In this fun little modeling project we create a Dr Seuss style cartoon elephant. We start off by cutting up some image planes in Photoshop based on reference sketches and move into Modeler to set up backdrops.
From there we continue with sculpting out the basic elephant shape with head, trunk and body using primitives, pushing and pulling points, and working with different tools such as extend, stretch, move, bandsaw-pro and the knife tool.
This modeling tutorial is a good first start for new users in Lightwave to get familiar with some of the common tools in Modeler and learn the basics of organic modeling. The sketch used as the backdrop can be downloaded here.
