In this project which is intended for users who are fairly new to Lightwave we create a funny little robot character. Working in Modeler in the first five parts we put some common modeling tools to use building our character based on reference images that are provided with this tutorial.
Creating simple characters of this type is a good way to get an overview of Lightwave before moving on to longer and more complicated projects. You'll learn how to build and connect the different parts together starting from primitives and make hands and gloves. We also focus on keeping clean wires and quaded geometry throughout a model to make things easier.
When the modeling is done we move into Layout for some texturing and lighting of our little robot. We create a backdrop and set up some basic lighting for rendering and tweak surface materials and lights to work nicely together and produce a nice end result.
