In this great beginner project we create a candlelit scene in Lightwave. Starting off in Modeler in we build some simple household objects to make up the scene working with different modeling tools such as stretch, extender, bandsaw-pro and bevel.
We continue in Layout with surfacing and shading of our models and work in the surface and texture editors. Most of the texturing work in this tutorial is done with procedural textures and you’ll learn how to create nice architectural materials like wood, metals, wax, mirror glass and paper and tweak them to work well with the lighting in the scene. We look at when to use bump maps for added realism and how to create a good composition for the shot.
To light the scene we use several different light types and work on getting a good balance between warm and cool when lighting a complete scene. To create candle light we move onto some volumetric effects and create fire with Hypervoxels in Lightwave before we set up camera properties and render out our final shot.
