We'd all like to go off and work for Pixar or DreamWorks one day, however in the current economic climate we all need to do what we can just to keep a roof over our heads. With this in mind we present to you one of the most common jobs in the industry - setting up the typical product shot.
In this series of videos David Mitchell shows how to create a typical studio lighting setup and render for a product shot. As one of the bread and butter jobs in the 3D industry, creating high quality product shots for advertisement is a great skill to master for any artist.
The tutorial covers the complete process step by step with modeling, shading, texturing, lighting and rendering for the final shot of the bottles. The modeling portion covers the very detailed construction of the bottle and cap with the threads and ridges as a perfect model is essential for a this type of render. From there we move on to the Layout parts of this tutorial which cover studio lighting with luminous polygons using Lightwave 9.6's updated rendering engine and shading with material nodes.
The techniques taught in this tutorial will help you create professional looking product shots for your clients in this competitive industry.
