ok, i finally got it rendered, there must have been somthin worng with the file, when i set it back up from scratch it worked fine :p
ok the top render is at low Anti-A and with Caustics on :p and the bottom is the render with Anti-A on Medium and Caustics and Radiosity on, i dont understand what all the dots are, isnt this render meant to be better than the top 1, its wierd. i dont know if when rendering i should have had Anti-A higher, any help would be great, its funny the top render looks better and it took 3min to render compared to the 2hrs the bottom 1 lasted. i can see that the bottom 1 is more shinny and stuff, but i dont know what those dots are ?? :confused: |
Well, there's two things I think it could be.
(1) It could be Radiosity 'noise', although this usually shows up as a dark graininess. This is caused by having a too low setting for your rays per evaluation setting - essentially missing out bits of the scene when the light rays are traced. (2) It could be HDRI bloom noise. Whatever image you're using as your background image is causing too much specular bloom on the rendered image. You might want to look at turning down the brightness of that image somewhat, and also try adding some gaussian blur to it in PhotoShop to see if that helps a little. |
Why is Radiosity such a BI*CH, i mean every time i use it i get these we dots all over the place, i was rendering out my Harley again, and i thought id add radiosity to it, but the whole bike had dots all over it, i mean what are these things, its impossible to get them away :(
i really want 2 use radiosity aswell because i love the soft shadows i know u can get with it, plz help, im desperate :eek: |

here is a render i done, this is still without Caustics & Radiosity, its just a normal render on Medium Anti-A.
ive been unable to get better results with Caustics & Radiosity on, will it really make a difference ?? and is it worth it ? :confused: |
have you try faking radiosity and just have caustics runing

Most of the time you get thoese dots in when your using radiosity when the hrdi image you are using has lots of white in it. You can try and fix this by bluring the image or by turing on HRD exposure.
And a tip when you are doing liquids that are inside of glass make use you make the liquid smaller than the glass that is going to contain it. If you dont do this you can some time get weird renders since you have to objects on the same plane and when lightwave renders it, it does not know what surface to use. Hope this helps. |
a few ppl have told me about this HRD exposure but were do i find it and whats do i do :confused:
i know these questions are probably very easy but ive only been using Lightwave for my 6th week now :p |

HDR Expose is an image filter - hit Ctrl+F8 in layout to bring up the panel and add it from there:

if your renders are noisy like that, you need more rays per evaluation, also in the global illumination properties turn on shading noise reduction and make sure you have at least enhanced low AA activated, better enhanced medium and disable adaptive AA.

hi, cheers for the help guys, i feel this project is going on a bit and i really want to rap it up, and move onto somthin new :p
what i want to do is use an image of a library i got for a background, u can see it in the we preview render screen and then make it blur a bit like in a photo so that the focus is on the bottle but the background is still visible, as u can see my attempts have came out rubbish they look ok in the preview but when its done it goes really dark :confused: i used Digital Confusion for this, am i doing it wrong ? and if som1 could help that would be great cheers :p |
