|
Bravo! I love the leg and my! the textures are to die for!
Keep it up! |
good work bullet lots of good feedback on your work so far and as such i was wondering if you could give me a little help with uv mapping i haven't done it before and the results you are getting from yours are very good. I think it may be the thing i need to get mine just right. Any help would be great.
But again great work keep it up very keen to see the body and head progress |
try www.menithings.com in the tutorials is a great way to do UV maps without texture strecthing

its cool to hear so many likes the texturing of my object.
Because this is one of the first times i try to texture organic objects!!! i failed a few times before to texture organic models!! if you see my textures its nothing special!! its just a green texture with some blue and light-green lines i made with the paintbrushtool and darken up some areas with the burntool ( im talking about photoshop now ) @ozwolf: im not sure if the methode i am using is the best. I am breaking the model into different parts and then i make a UV from those parts!!! the leg i created is a cylindrical UV while the foot is a planner UV!!! maybe you should also break up your model in parts and then UV each part one by one!!! the texture i have attached with this post is the texture for the feet!! as you can see....its nothing special!! PS. took me 15 minutes to type this message :P and i don't even know if this is understandable!!! |

and the bump map for the feet!! nothing special either!! i also added a procedural layer for the bump!!

little update on the head!! he/she is not looking realy scary at the moment but i first will model him/her in a neutral mood!!
and who said that dinosaurs were always looking mad?? :) im not 100% happy with the noseholes yet!! think it needs more detail around there!! |
Looks very good! Where did you find such a close up of your dinosaurs head? I looked for a brontosaurus and i couldn't find anything as good as that.

thanks for showing us the uv maps, i think i now know how i would do it.
Your model is coming along great, i will have to work extra hard to try and beat you :D! |

started texturing the head!!! very hard to let it looks like realistic!!
also planned to give the neck and lower body some redish color because i dont wanna have a completely green dinosaur!!! also is 'blades' on his head are going to be a little bit red...im not sure if that will look good, but i will see :) hope you guys like the texture so far!! ( dont have a bump map yet. Only a procedural map ) |
pfew....texturing the head is done!!! i did SOOOOO much testrenders i am sick of it at the moment :)
well here is the result!! next step is going to make the teeth and tongue!!! c&c welcome offcourse!! |
is their an upload error??? i attached an image but it doesn't show up!!!! well i will try later to attach again!!!

|
u r going good guns man!!! Keep it up!

hehe yeah thats because i forgot to subpatch the eyes :)
updates coming soon |
My only suggestion is to give him an eye lid. :)
Keep it up! |

sometime you have a days, everything you are doing goes wrong!! thats happening to me today :(
i cant seem to get the inner mouth look good and also i am not happy about the mouth corner!!! spend a few (!) hours on it but dont have many progress!!! i brighten the image a little bit up because it was a little bit dark!! hope you guys can give me some good tips for the mouthcorner and the inner mouth!!! ( texture for the mouth is not fitting the texture inside the mouth, i will fix that ). and he needs some teeth but they are coming soon to!! im happy we have 2 months for this one, otherwise i never get this one finished :P @ kinley: he actually does have some eye lids...but they are wide open for the neutral look!!! when all is done i will close them a little bit for the more dangerous look!! thank you for the tip though!! well... i am going to get some sleep now and hope tomorrow i will have a better day :) |
wow its lookimng great well done.
the only thing i'd do is make the inner mouth a little more pinkish like the corners of the mouth it looks a little too red at the moment. other than that its all good :) |
Yeah, the main thing for the mouth is to make the shader very glossy and specular.

hehe thanks for the compliments!!!
i have joined the legs to the body ( was a hell of job to do ) im still not very proud of it, but at least they are attached!! i also have a question: how to get rid of those strange unsmooth parts. it has to do with the polygons wo are not connect smooth to each other... but how can i make them smooth??? ( see picture with red lines around them ). sorry for the large image!! |
i don't know about smoothing the parts but i wanted to ask you how you made your teeth if you don't mind me asking
looking good though but i think the legs could do with being fatter at the top where they jion to the body thanks Rob |
well the teeths are very simple meshes... they are just cubes with the spikey tool used on top!!!
i can show you a picture if you dont understand it!!! |
Well I have no idea about the smoothing but the first thing I would do ( if you haven't done this already) try smoot, if that don't work try moving points, if that dont work then... Band saw it mb? ( ok that's sounds dumb) ok im quiting because I have no Idea what will work and now im rambling :bored:
|
I have been away for a few days and bullet the model is looking great well done, cant help with the other problem sry,
|
i had the same problem with mine it will probably the stars if you carnt fix it by moving points around
|
thank you for the tips Krull, but im affraid none of your tips helped
i think its because i have a lot of triangles around that place!!! tomorrow i will try to make only quadrangles around there!! ooh and uuh, could you explain what you mean with: "it will probably the stars" Sharp!! thank you!! |
by stars i mean the points with more then 4 edges.
mostly made when theres triangles so when u make em quades they should take away the 5 polygon points |
one crit

looking good there, just one crit the thigh could do with some more muscle, it seems a bit on the weak side, hope you dont mind I used your image to show you I mean.:)
Dae |
@ sharp: thank you for the explanation, i will now going to try if the problem is solved by deleting the 5 edge points
@ dae: thank you for the critic, will see if i can fix it!!! |

not much progress so far, but just wants to show this little update!!! added that thing around his neck!!! still needs to move some points here and there!!!
and what you guys think for chaning my n00b status to normal???? I don't want to be a n00b anymore ;P EDIT: image was a little big, i attached a smaller one!! |
I can change to Normal if you'd like. I like the way it's going. :)
One thing I suggest is making the big neck thing more membrane-ish. RIght now it looks pretty solid and stiff. |
