...i hate to say...cause i really like using reflections this way...i almost did the same thing using my characters eye and the reflection of the scene in it...but i fear...for clarity sake you may have to go with the original...which is by no means a bad thing b/c you had a nice compostiotion going as it was...
...however... ...i definately like this...but i'm partial to shiny things...i think its a really cool way to show the scene tho...if you do decide to go this route...you need to move that knife into the center of the reflection in front of the mandelin...because i'm having trouble finding it as it the way it is now...and also maybe lower the mask...or use bright colors on it so that it stands out...clarity it goig to be the trick to pulling this one off i think... ...you know...i'm still gonna have to go with i think you're better off with the other one...at least this late in the game...this one's cool...but the other is a lot more sound as far as conveying what you want it to... |
here is the final ... got to go work :(
i want to thanks all that helped ... much appreciated. i hope i was able to help others. good luck to all:beer: 'till the next episode....;) http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/185...10805188rb.jpg |
wanted a link to Imageshack
maybe this way? |
the words:
It's is about a harlequin(jester) that also is a pro killer hired to "finish" ill-fated persons. the problem is, he's starting to have regrets about what he's doing, begins to hate himself for that. So, when some nobleman comes to him, and wants to hire his "skills" (gold) to murder some poor guy, the harlequin loath and anger bring him to amok Proffesional as he is, he control his temper, poison the nobleman with some powder hidden in his ring( which is in the middle of the table) in the wine . while the victim is blurred, the harlequin puts the mask on the victim face, and stabb him dozen times, and , for the grand finale, a final blow in the head, with the mandoline. (what's a harlequin, without his mandoline?) after that, he return the mask( with blood on it) to it's stand, the blooded knife and mandoline on the table, and seats on the chair .... thinking, planning what to do next...where to ,now? he KNOWS there will be no more murders, on his part. so what we see in the frame is the "after" part of the concept, which, BTW, is happening in a tent(hence the round and verical lines...and the tear with the stitches) nope this? http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/185...05188rb.th.jpg |

i think the ImageShack link leads to thumbnail
so here it is: |
...i noticed my links got screwed up too...i think when the threads got bounced over here they got broken...either that or imageshack is messed up which wouldn't suprise me either...
anyway...i like what you ended up with for your final piece my only suggestion would have been to use chioce color...aka makiny anywhere the blood is red...so that it really stands out...still a cool image either way tho:beer: |
you are right about the blood.
i been testing it by showing to family/friends and there were too many saying : "oh ... that's blood ?" and there is also the wine... all looks the same. the problem is i left texture for the last day... since is was not a "must" in this challenge. so i throw a quick texturing at everithing in the scene... reaaaally quick. in general ... i think i missed the point of this challenge ... LIGHTING!! .. . i concentrated in modelling almost 95% ... and many things i worked hard on (head and hand for example ) are not in the final frame :( i have only 2 point lights (candles) and a very low value area light. i think your entrie has a potential in this challenge ... i saw also the Maya/Max entries ... some great works also ... i could use myself some Wacom Intuos3 A4 Tablet ... but i guess i'll have to get more experience :) ... anyway for a first challenge and a newbee just 6 months in 3d ... i think i managed to pull up a decent entrie. btw ... hope the entrie wasn't messed up by ImageShack ... i sent a Private Message to mtmckinley about it .. waiting for response.... ... good luck  |
