lol, yeah, its crap start again ! :headbang:
Its lookin good.....i was just thinking to much as how it would look in real life. But if ur going for a cartoon look then, it comin along nice. The pic of Bruce in the scene does help. u can see that the styles do go well 2gether. |
Lookin good, as you well know!
The last render with Bruce's lookin a bit too bright I prefer the greyer look of the first render. I guess that's just because there's a bright light on them. |
Yeah, its the sun :p
|
Damn sun, ruins it for everyone!

Well bugger me sideways if this didn't take quite a wee while to render...
(polys = 2,100,000 and counting ) |
I'd rather not, but anyway, looking good. You gonna put some alpha on them leaves? :p
How long did it take to render? |
The render took just over 2 and a half hours with 5 AA passes using Interpolated Radiosity.
Have applied translucency to the leaves but I wont be putting any transparency on them.... ...Now I don't think that render took quite long enough... time for some saslite grass!! |

OK, after leaving my machine baking radiosity for 2 days lightwave eventually decided to tell me my computer didn't have enough RAM to compute the maps - 2 Gig isn't enough RAM!!!
So anyways, i've just slapped in a couple of extra ambient lights and turn the key light into an area light, I think the reults are reasonable (which is lucky coz its pretty much my last option for lighting) |
looks cool Kris, any chance of a better view from the front or somthin. But the lighting looks nice.

OK, after 5 days of continuous rendering, the exterior flythrough is finished, its nothing special so im not going to put the full .avi up anywhere, but here are some stills from it.
Hope y'all have a Merry Christmas and a messy Hogmany!! |
looks cool m8, im actually goin to change my lighting slightly so i dont have to use radiosity, it would take somewhere in the region of 3-4days to render and im not willing to leave my comp for that long. Its ok for final Stills, but im just workin on gettin a sutable effect with plain and simply Anti-A.
You got a nice lookin building there looking forward to seein it in the new year.......Hows ur character anim comin along ?? |
I'll let you know when I start it :headbang:
Seriously? 3-4 days??? I worked out that is I used radiosity on mine then for 1 minute it would take somewhere in the region of 200+ days!!! I'd be using it if I were you! You're right though, its good to experiment with ways of faking it as thats the kind of thing you really need to know how to do well |
lol, 200+ days !! i cant believe that...
Well, to save time i always reduce the FPS from say 25 to 15, there is no point in rendering above 15fps for flyovers and stuff, its only during complex animation that more frames are required. I rendered out a quikeshade ver at both 15 and 25fps and showed them to my mum/dad and a friend and they honestly didnt see a defference, some of theme even picked the 15fps movie as better, that surprised me, My movie is 12sec i think, at 25fps its 250 frames, when i reduce to 15fps im in the 150 ball-park, thats a HUGE render save ! Expecially if its 2-40min a frame, i just did a test their, and i i was wanting to ask if there are requirments when it comes to the size of the movie. i rendered out a test their and it came in at 10min with 4-passes. this is very managable but its rez is 500*250......do u think this size of movie is ok for hand-in ? 1min !!!!!!!! my Exterior movie was only goin to be 12sec !! have i missed somthin in class |
Nah, Kris is just a big show off with his fountain and all. Wanting to show off all the wee details I suspect!
I don't think you even need to do a flythrough if you don't want to, although I think it's better if you do, even if you take the effects out and just use it to show the modeling then the stills could show all your fancy lighting effects. (Don't think you'd be up for the task of Photoshoping each frame of the flythrough anyway Fraser!;)) |
