by stars i mean the points with more then 4 edges.

mostly made when theres triangles so when u make em quades they should take away the 5 polygon points

not much progress so far, but just wants to show this little update!!! added that thing around his neck!!! still needs to move some points here and there!!!

and what you guys think for chaning my n00b status to normal???? I don't want to be a n00b anymore ;P

EDIT: image was a little big, i attached a smaller one!!

mtmckinley 23-08-2004 01:49 PM

I can change to Normal if you'd like. I like the way it's going. :)

One thing I suggest is making the big neck thing more membrane-ish. RIght now it looks pretty solid and stiff.

if it is not to much trouble it would be cool!!!

yeah...i agree with that...i thought i could create that effect by adding a good texture and add a little transparancy!!! but i will see if i also can get that effect by change the mesh

thanks for the tip!!!

The big step to normal! Go bullet :D I like the idea of the frill around its neck. We have a lizard in australia called a frilly necked lizard. here are some urls that show some shots of the frill, may help you get the right feel.

http://www.doaustralia.com/Fauna/FrilledLizard.htm

http://www.australianstamp.com/Coin-...re/frilled.htm

and 1 more image. i hope this is helpful.

bullet_evader 24-08-2004 06:31 AM

thank you ozwolf for the links!!!! never knew their was some kind of lizard with neckfrills!!! its for sure i go use this links and i probably going to make the frills again to let it look like better!!! maybe it looks better when i make it not as a different part but just attach it to the head!! so i will try that!!!

thanks again!!!

guestion: should i use double sided polygons to get that membrane-ish look??? or should i just make it a solid mesh like i have now at the moment???

updates coming soon!!!!

thanks puppet!!

here is an improved neckfrill!!! i personally like this one more than the first one!!! tell me which you prefer more!!

hopesfall 24-08-2004 05:47 PM

I think it looks good! Looks much better than the last...the edges look a bit thick, but I think once textures are added it won't look as apparent and perhaps it will look better that way. Lookin fantastic bullet, keep it going man!:D Oh, and how many lights do you have set up in your scene... I have the darndest time getting a good lighting and soft shadows set up in a scene. The pic even has a neat fuzzy effect to it.

bullet_evader 24-08-2004 07:03 PM

thanks hopesfall!!! first i had flat edges on that neckthing!! but that didn't look good...so i decided to make them a little thicker!!

In the last render i have 2 lights!! one blue spotlight with 50% light intensity!! and another spotlight with a yellow color, also with 50% light intensity!!! and radiosity is turned on!! that is always given a cool soft effect to the renders!!! and dont forget to give it a shadow map!!!

ozwolf 25-08-2004 12:59 AM

\thats looking great bullet. Just one question can you tell us about the shadow map you are talking about as your render is an effect i too have trouble try to achieve.

Your dino has heaps of individuality with the frill and bone on its nose keep up your good work.

hopesfall 25-08-2004 04:54 AM

Sweet!!! Thanks for the tip! I love your renders... now meby mine can look half as good:D About the edges; I see what your talking about. I think your thickening was a move in the right direction... I can't wait to see it textured... your texturing thusfar has been primo stuff. Until next render... I wait eagerly:)

Mark 25-08-2004 05:40 AM

Excellent work there Bullet. Now, let's see some textures on that baby :)
