I need to model a lowpoly statue to multiply similarly in scene, for those triangles.

Noratio 05-07-2004 11:26 PM

Actually a torso and a statue and I might seek readymade stuff first.

voices3d 06-07-2004 05:53 PM

cool horces :)

Noratio 10-07-2004 12:40 AM

Still rigging...these are thre fellows, no time for textures, maybe I'll wipe off those that exists.

IK's set for both characters. I wonder if I should learn to set morphs or to try to manage with bones, I need the time for animation too.

mtmckinley 11-07-2004 09:18 PM

looking cool :)

I need to sleep also. I think I'm doing fine with bones, need more of them and I'll add mophs to eyes, lips, nostrils...if possible in demanded time.

Fallenswordsman 12-07-2004 05:47 AM

Looks excellent! Nice looking character and some nice expressions.

Noratio 12-07-2004 11:36 PM

Thanks Fallen,
I changed my mind and I am learning morphs, it can't be that hard. I don't know if this challenge is going to be extended, but I assume that I can sew something together anyway.
...Back to the bench, ain't gonna sleep tonight...

MeanPi2 13-07-2004 03:26 AM

Impressive. As Fallen said great expressions.

Aargh,
it is still one month and I started morphing. It ain't that difficult umph, untill I realized I NEED MORE POLYS!

Noratio 14-07-2004 09:58 PM

Probably would be better to use bones on his chin and morps on eyes nd nostrils and lips, rounded cheeks too for eating. That previous image was hole jaw on morphs, dont really work. Any idea which way to go?

colto 14-07-2004 10:09 PM

Just subdivide the chin and rearrange the poly's. There is no need to do the extra work! Hope this helps! ;)

Noratio 14-07-2004 10:37 PM

Thanks Colto,
Cause this more about learning than getting to the finish line on time I'll turn back and try SD, probably only to end of mouth.

This is where I was now. Quite acceptable but teeth might need to be morphed or something.

Noratio 14-07-2004 11:58 PM

Well,
I learned tonight to crash modeler, I really begun to be good at it. Time to give up for this night.

Noratio 15-07-2004 08:02 AM

I had a poly that wouldn't divide, but crashed. Done with it but I sitll ain't quite familiar with modeler I can crash it once in hour without even trying.

This is probably the way to go Colto, but I must concider for this one if I morph only smaller parts and rearrange the mesh flow and get back lost symmetry later. I'll think of it untill eve.

Noratio 15-07-2004 01:01 PM

Okay,
decision is this for now. August the horse ia not going to speak at all now only eat and later on he's talking onematopoetics, so I'll stick to bones in main movement and morph lids, nostrills, nose, lops and cheeks, thou cheeks might deform more nicely with bones on this mesh.

Am I going to be in hurry?

Noratio 15-07-2004 08:01 PM

I'm going to have schedule that messes me up. He is allmost ready, I only need morphs to cheeks as he is eating. Then Keith the Rat

Noratio 16-07-2004 12:40 AM

First animation test. This is not animated to the context provided, but simply to test morphs and motion.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/noratio/August_test_1.avi

in my check list is:
-Right upper lid morps thru eyeball
-Left cheek has tris in hole of quads, how did they come I don't know, but easy to get rid.

I must start morph the other character or I never finnish in time.

kumar 16-07-2004 01:45 AM

Nice work,,, since i have been like morphing for some time now on other projects i will give a few comments. The lower cheek bloats unevenly... needs to be a little bit more stuttle. The lips needs to morph out evenly all around the mouth and not to one side.. Hehe although it looks funny... :) Oh ya if you see the horse when the lips move the whole nose has a movement, you might want to do that... The expressions and other stuff are fine i think.

Noratio 16-07-2004 06:50 AM

Kumar,
you're so right about the nose area. In this tight schedule I'll try to achieve "fake" that splitting bones in nose area and using them at same time, or if time founds I'll recreate morph part for nose area,(and lose all current). For the lips I have morhs both forward and all around, but just had this combination in test render. Upper does nicely Kiss, but lower not yet.

Thaks for your Comments

Noratio 21-07-2004 10:09 PM

I dropped Keiths ear tearing. Had to do it with FK. That was OK but I could not make the mesh flow nicely and we have short of time. Turned IK back to hands and don't do anything accurate with them. Animating is fun, teaser coming soon, or not.

Noratio 22-07-2004 09:55 AM

1 RAW animation. I Decided to post it regardles its current state.
http://www.kolumbus.fi/noratio/Raw1_aaa.avi

There are several problems like:
-Still those cheeks on August don't bloat smoothly.
-Glimbal locks, I must use FK in Keith the rats hands, or use Kumar trick for Elbow Direction, all animation on him sucks, eh maybe the ART is pronounced well in good pose.
-insufficent amount of facial animation to be kind to myself...lol.
-I still need those 3 props: Arm, Statue and torso

Had a render error this night. Couple of cold packs from freezer took 5 degrees CPU heat down, seems enough. I need to drill ventilation hose to my newer case, or pipe it some other way. Doubt it will help in July or August.

MeanPi2 24-07-2004 03:59 AM

Take 1 side of the case off or both and slap a house fan right next to it either blowing into the case or out depending on the size of the fan. I used a 14 incher blowing in but due to the air circulation created by the blades (alot at the edges of the fan, little at the middle), turned it around to suck the hot air out. Both worked great in nasty heat, but sucking the air out worked better. If you have air conditioning, just pipe it through the top of your case (untested but my next try since the fan burned up and bought an A/C unit.).

Just a couple 'brute force' suggestions.

Noratio 24-07-2004 05:51 AM

Thanks,
Did and CPU @ 37 celcius full charge, opened all windows and doors too. If you use air condition, coldpacks or such cold instances make sure you have real blow going on in case. I had a flood in my case last night, condenced water and there were no holes in bottom like in my older case. Installed second casecooler on fly, just had forgotten to do it. 1. case fan 1500rpm 2. 2800rpm. My moveable room fan diameter is 42 cm.

Still have time to fix it.

Zeeman 24-07-2004 03:52 PM

i think the blue guy should shake his head in the end when he closes his eyes. just a thought tho. Good anim all the way.

MeanPi2 25-07-2004 04:36 AM

I only use fans and want to use A/C. A/C actually sucks the huminity out of a room so no condensation fears blowing to the comp (course I keep the case sides off also)..

You know up until your last video post I had NO idea what your video was about. Not bad. I agree with the head shaking Zeeman meantioned and really like the gestures of the other horse. Nice job.

Noratio 25-07-2004 08:58 AM

Thanks,
I should have used more words describing what I'm doing. But if you can put it in few words why bother making several hundred images. Eh, I tend to trust my lousy telepathic skills.

I like the head shaking tip too. I did not manage to do it with IK last night, it was too much for otherwise great Elbow Dir IK. Next I'll do everything else ready, fixed already Keith the Rats mouth, pronounced better Scrap and Art, and played with lights.

If I have time I'll record key for all objects at end and do second render from there with head shaking both head and hands FK.

I'm probably going to get busy rest of the week and this might be the final.

Made the headwaving and with IK, just had to learn to use extra bank bones in arm, it was done fast but to learn took some time.

mtmckinley 27-07-2004 01:01 PM

Good progress, Noratio!

Couple things:

The movements seem a bit floaty right now. They are currently kind of slowly "swimming" through the air and such. Watch two people talking and you'll see that movements are generally ver deliberate.

When he screams "In your mouth!" I'd like to see more emphatic movement from the speaker.

Keep it up!

Noratio 27-07-2004 05:51 PM

Yup,
I see what I can do. Can't say that I master Timing and Spacing yet.
