2005 Mustang GT
1 Attachment(s)
First I have placed the Nissan on Hold as I am reworking much needed areas but will be updating it as I progress on it.
I found myself frustrated with it and felt I should back off then come back to it some times that helps Anyway, I really have been wanting to start a 2005 Mustang. So here it is!!! Off to a good start.... I may begin again to cut the poly count down, what do you all think should I? One of my Faults is I start out low but somewhere along the path I find I add more polys..... :( Hey but this is a fun learning process.... Practice makes perfect... hehe so I better keep practicing LOL MBStudios |
dont cut the polys down...unless your machine cant deal with this number of poly...the car is looking great...i wanted to model one myself....probably will...but busy for now....next time you post an image disable the cages/normals/guides...they get in the way of this beautifull view ;) good luck !

I couldnt help myself I had to remodel it to some degree.
In fact I remodeled the entire side panel and as you can see have started on the bumper. I have several areas of pinching to work out but I am confident most of that will be corrected as I finish cutting out the bumper. Have some areas of stress around the lights, as soon as I am done with the bumper I am going to tackle that area. SO heres the update!!! |

EDIT:
Ok I descided to come back and edit this post. I have run into a snag and I am finding it will probably be more work to correct than its worth. I had started on the rear section of Car and it was looking good until I was moving forward to conect it to the front section and thats when I begin noticing some major problems with alighnment in so many areas that I am trying to descide should I scrap the front and take the back and move it forward or should I scrap the back. Oh well, I am wondering now if I will ever get a car completed. I realized what my problem was or is. It is the alignment of backdrops. I was only able to find a Side view and front view and rear view Photos of the car. However I found a Top view of the Car but it was a photo of a Model. Thinking I could use it to at least get a general idea of the shape or placement was ok in the begining .. at first it wasnt a problem, but I think I may have used it to often as though it was accurate forgetting that it was not hince my back section does not want to line up with my front. I know now I could have avoided this or at least determined this much earlier if I had created a complete spline cage of the car ooops my bad yes I know I made big boo boo!!!! Impatience did this one in.... However I am willing to start from scratch if I could just find some blueprints/ 3 view pics that in fact line up as I want to really do this car. I guess I could model an earlier model of the Stang such as the 99 model I think there are Blueprints of it, or I could go even earlier as I happen to have accurate prints of the earlier stang. I dont know guys kind of down in the dumps on this one!!! ANyone know or have blueprints of this car? MBStudios MBStudios |
you already checked smcars.net?:) the almighty blue-source in my opinion:)

I havent checked there, didnt know about that one. I will take a look. But good news I havent gave it up I descided to press on. However the front is a no go, but I am splining the rest of the car from the back forward and its starting to come together. I am providing an update pic to show all is not lost. MBStudios P.S. Thanx for the headsup about smcars.net. |

Update Time again.
I now have it front to back. I still have the top to finish and I have around the headlights area to finish. Then I go to detailing it out. It is coming along wel and I am liking it so far. Getting closer and now can actually see insight when I will begin working on the interior. Enjoy!!! |

I have a new update rendered where I am modeling the headlights and new more accurate front bumper. I will get it up in the next hour or so. Just got in from a long days trip so going to rest a bit first. MBStudios P.S. Thanks for all the kind and positive feed back I am getting it really helps to inspire more toward the car. |

Ok the update I have promised and this is with a all newly remodeled front end.
Now to go to the top and other areas of detail. Hope you like!!!! MBStudios |
in general really nice, i'm wondering whether the headlights are a bit too much to the outside, but I'm not that used to the car:)
|
Dude,
This looks swwwweeet. For a 2005, blueprint references must be hard to come by. Creative juices have to work overtime from photo references. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to some more. :D |

Thanx!!! I went back to my refference pics and also my back drops and I am using Photos for backdrops. Everything appears to be lined up. Meaning the Headlightitself the round area for instance is dead on when looking in wireframe mode forinstance. Then doing a comparison to with the refference photos its looking right so far. However I am going to go out and get some photos of my own allowing for much more detailed refferences than what is found on the net. This will probably require me remodeling certain areas LOL but thats ok its the journey that is so much fun anyway :) I will examine this closer once I have some of my own pics together. MBStudios |
Yep,
Half the fun, is the amazing stuff that can be create as the learning time goes by. Nice work on the edges, especially with 5 points polys. They nag the heck out of me. |
Thanx Promethius,
It is dificult somewhat to work with photos mainly because sometimes the detail is dificult to see. I have remodeled this one 4 times... meaning I have broke down large areas of the model in order to try and get a more accurate model. In fact I find more refference pics that might give more detail of a certain area only to find from one perspective its right on but from another angle according to the new refference photo it might be off a bit. In fact after looking more into Kermits sugestion about the headlights I am finding I will need to adjust them some. However that wont be a real problem. I have to say though I was real close. The center part of the headlight is to far to the left or toward center ( 0 ) and needs to move to the right just a bit the outedge of the car. Plus it needs to be moved toward the front a bit I have them a bit far back but this is an easy adjustment and should have this done in one of my later renderings. Thanx Kermit for the CRIT will make for a better car :) MBStudios |

An Update!
I remodeled or as some call it detailed or tweaked :) However, it felt alot like remodeling as I had to make some a major changes. I found a site with lots of High Res refferences that realy shed some light on the hood area so I felt like remodeling that area. Also, I am nearly done with the T Top area just a bit more detailing left on it. Heres a couple of renders! MBStudios |

:) Yeah I think so too!!! I keep getting the urge to Drive it!!! If I only could! Cant wait to get it done to at least build a scene around it bring it to life so to speak! MBStudios |
Question Does anyone have any links to tutorial on how to light up your cars?
I would like to see the Lights on and such :) MBStudios |
Nice - I like the red one - red ones go faster :)
|
Quote:
LOL I agree!!! Red is Fast!!! MBStudios |
looks like a nice car to me!!! i personally like blue more than red!! but red is fine also!!
keep going!! |
red is always kind of wild, blue always appears...hmm.. I'd call it "silent", but for a cool cruiser, it fits:) id go for silver with red interior, awesome and timeless combination:)

Yeah good choice!!! Speaking of interior, I am trying to find some good photos of the interior, you all come accross some high res ones would be good to see detail. Updates soon!!! MBStudios P.S. Would love to have some input from you guys about the Tail lights! I am trying to determine what would be the best way to do them.... how to create a realisitc effect of the tail lights, not as easy to me as the headlights. |
You might want to try picking up a copy of 'Lightwave Applied' By Dave Jerrard et al. It's quite an old book now, but if memory serves me correctly, it did have quite an extensive section on texturing and moddelling for automotive effects...

Thanx for the idea Mark I will look into that. Would love to learn more tips and tricks from those in the Modeling arena.
But until I do that I am going to forge ahead so I can bring the modeling at least to an end. However, I thought I would build some temp Tail Lights to test a few ideas of my own, just to see if I can get a good look and I feel I have a satisfactory look here. Please note everyone these Tail Lights are not properly Modeled, they are just boxed in so I could play with some ideas. Howver, even boxed I feel they give me a good indication of what the finished Model will look like. Dont you think? I placed a Photo Refference in this pic to compare. Again though remeber these Tail Lights are not the finished product. I will begin Modeling them now!!! :) MBStudios P.S. I will update again as soon as I have the actual tail lights modeled. |

OK I have the Tail Lights Modeled in now, though I do not have any textures applied at this point to the light section I do have the center ornament done.
I will be working on the textures for the lights and then finishing the back bumper for effect. |

OK The Tail Light is modeled and Textured. There are still some minor adjustments to be done before the final Model but most of them are not visible.
At any Rate I like the way they have turned out. MBStudios |
