THAT IS RUBBISH!!
ok no its not. Lookin good man. Cant wait to see the animation? You rigged your dudes yet? ive been up half the night working on a few things but still cant get an ideas i like....running out of time! |
Haha ! Love the characters KrisYoung1980
Any chance of getting a background to the story of the animation :p I like the style of the we Temple aswell :) |
temple need to be closer to see more detail.
from tat distance you cant see the stairs you spent so long modelling. Needs logs in the fire and obviously an eagle in the sky (cause all firery temple scenes have an eagle in the sky....obviously). Apart from that im gonna say...awesome Chris |
Cheers Guys,
The plan for the animation was to have a load of those wee guys dancing round the fire doing tribaly type stuff, then the camera would cut to a livingroom scene with an old couple sitting watching everything that was going on on the TV. The old guy would be laughing and doing impressions of the warriors, then a spear would come flying out of the TV and land in his chest. Old woman would pick up the remote, point it at the camera (TV's POV) and switch it off. However.. I've spent so long working on the tribe scene, i dont think i'll have time for the livingroom one so i might just have to adapt it so something else happens with the warriors. Logs are on their way, thinking about having guys coming out of the temple so there'll be a closeup then, dont have time to do the eagle, but otherwise obviously it would be there!! |
Hi kris, like the style of your characters, wouldnt mind seeing a wireframe of it.
The scene looks great, you could do a kind of non narative GOGS aproach where, ok no talking but they just do stupid stuff, you could use the fire as a central part of the story, therefore taking from the old saying "you wouldnt stick your head in the fire if they did would you?". Best way to keep yourself right, is to do a quick descriptive script and a quick storyboard, doesnt have to be accurate drawings. Let me just say last year when we did this project, almost everybodystarted out with one idea, and in the end had something else, just happens when theres no time. Looks great though. |

Heres a W.F. of the 1st one. Have a couple of back up schemes in mind if this one falls over, I think i might just try and blitz it and see what happens though... if I dont finish in time then I'll just submit whats done and follow it up later
|
Thats good clean modelling cant wait to see the progress.
|
Cheers mate, hopefully have some progress up soon - if all the stupid little filler modules they have us doing don't get in the way...

Hi,
Here's the 1st test render of the environment for the next scene, no anti-aliasing or anything on it yet, but you get the general idea... |

1st attempt at the old man that will be in the second scene, not really done much work on the textures yet, just trying to get a rough idea of how he'll look
|
lol, looking good m8 :)
Keep us updated, i just finished my rigging, my character is fully mobile now :p |

Cheers Fraser,
Heres his wife now, same story, no textures or anything yet, not rigged either, but i'm just trying to blitz the modeling just now, you started animating yet? |

Test render of the opening scene, playing about with DoF and Zoom factors at the moment....
|
Looks great man, watch the render times with depth of field.
Are you going to put some stuff in the fire? Other than that, hope your stuff gets shown at the end of year show. |

Hey folks,
This is the final test render before i start cranking out the (start) of the finished piece. I've not finished animating yet, but if I dont start redering now then i won't get it dont in time. Ditched DoF in favour of Digital Confusion, gives a much nicer effect and doesnt throw my Sas all over the place! 8m44sec on En-Low  |
very nice, good looking render
|
I am glad to see an artist creating scenes of the South American indigenous tribes.
Keep up the excellent work KrisYoung!!! Cheers Zeno |
Looking great man nice render too, when I used digital confusion it looked ok in a still but i had alot of problems with it when animating with it, have you rendered out any animation with it yet?
|
Hey,
Simple - I did a couple of tests, nothing major. What kind of problems have you been having with it?... My monitor went on fire today, but I don't think it was the digital confusion ;) Zeno - Cheers for the support and for posting too, you're the 1st person to post on this thread that isn't on my course :D |
The problems I had with digital confusion? Well a number of them,
1. when an object moved between the blured areas it showed a clean line between the blur area and the focused area. As though I had blurred around a selection. 2. It went too blurred instead of slight out of focus , it was more like a gausian blur in photoshop, I guess this is to be expected as it is a pixel shader. Well the other stuff I had problem with I fixed, but it ended up I just rendered my thing with no blur and motion blur on. Nevermind hope it works out alright for you though. Keep us posted. |

Hello again,
Heres a still of the drummers, just realised i hadn't put them up yet (It's distorted coz of the camera zoom, looks a bit dodgy as a still, but works in the anim) |
Hi simple,
Again this has excellent style and rhythm despite only being stills here. I hope you add shadows to them cool drummers. Keep it up, you arevery close to nailing a fine animation! Zeno |
Cheers for the comments Zeno (even if I'm not simple ;) )
As far as the drummers go, it was just an unfortunate choice of frame to render, there are shadows on them, they're just not noticable as the random generator for the fire light hit a low value. Will hopefully pick up the rest of the frames for the 1st 30 secs this morning and then that gives me 11 days to animate and render the second scene, add the audio (and make the audio), come up with the title sequence and finish my production file. Bugger! |
LoL I`m simple! :)
I wish you goodluck!! I know how you feel, as it was the same for everyone last year, but I think its worth it. This is a good concept as from last year there were some that just wanted to animate anything for no particular reason, this however is great, I think you`ll get finished on time. cheers Simple lol |
My apologies, silly me, lol :o
|
Hey folks,
the final animation is now up on my site - it's heavily compressed and quite small, but it still doesn't hide some of the dodgy animation thats going on! As usual, comments and crits are welcome and will be taken on board for my next project. http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/...roubleclip.htm Cheers, Kris |
G'day Kris! Bumped into your thread and decided to check it out - your character designs and modelling execution are brilliant! I don't recall seeing anything of a similar nature (design or content-wise) - it's great to see something different!:attn:
Cheers! priimate. |
Hey,
Thanks alot, i'm pretty new to the whole 3D thing (and creative thing in general) so my stuff at the moment is very experimentational, still trying to get a feel for what i can and cant do... I might start some of these tutorials if i can get permission from the girlfriend (unlikely) ;) Kris |
