last one for tonight and im off to bed :)
|
Looking good so far. In the final render i would try to soften some of the shadows some more.
|
thanks for the advice bullet. i have only the main lights going in the scene right now to test if my model is casting shadows like i want one overhead and one for the doorway.
|
Nice lighting equinox!!!
|
thankyou Tiago.ive been working on the upper part of the chair so no renders tonight oh well it makes it all worth while in the end..........the more you time spend on the model the better the outcome . ....... :ninja: hmm sounds like one of them double edge sword kinda things damned if you do damned if you dont lol:confused:

Great work, doesn't look the noob work t me at all.

Now this is... scary... disturbing
Hi Equinox
i must say that the silhouette in the scene makes my skin..... aaaaah. Smart choice ,this adds a LOT to the scene:bow: Did u modeled the brick wall????? And... yeah, noob? ... this work ? |
wow thanks for the praise but i feel im a noob because ive never had any training in this and 99% of what i know in lightwave ive learned from this site. my first try real piece and my first time entering a challenge in the year ive been using lightwave and coming here.To me i dont even feel good enough for noob but your kind words give me confidence and i thank you.
in my year of playing with 3d ive struggled with so much to learn to even remotley pull any sort of image off.i am an artist i do paintings but when it comes to the art of 3d i was lost until i found this place.the video tuts are a great learning tool.i see so many pieces on the web of 3d artists and im always saying man they are awesome i wanna do that and this is the only place ill ever go to find out. everyone here is great as far as their skills and their personalities very helpfull and very honest you cant get better than that . anyways gotta run thanks............again i appreciate it more than you guys know  |
Hehe...just wanted to say I am glad you joined the noob category :) Making us "norms" feel nervous.
I love how it already has an eerie feel. Digitalshow |

here where im at tonight. ive started to texture the walland the floor so i can see my if my shadows are looking right .also added the convict shadow and lights in the circuit box inside the amp meters. added the phone light and door light.........i will be modelling the rest of the smaller part of the chair tommorrow and hopefully finish that part.then move to the head electrodes and whatnot.lemme know what you guys think any crits welcome.
........................... |
looking good m8.
i only find that bump on the stones a bit weird ( the red selected parts ) the rest of the bump looks good. only why does the lower part of the bricks have grey lines ( the concrete that hold the stones together ), and the upper part not? is it because of the lightning? i would like to see al of them with the grey lines in them. the rest is looking real good so far! PS. propably you don't understand anything of this text. So sorry for that, i couldn't find a better way to write it. i hope you will understand it though!! |

OH NOO :headbang:
i really have to learn to attach images |
1 Attachment(s)
thanks bullet. i was making the texture very late last night and didnt feel like fixing it but i believe i might have now good eye man .what do you guys think about the floor texture im making ? are the caution lines too distracting and take away from the moped blood stain's? im in a fluster over this i cant decide any advice ?:headbang:
|
1 Attachment(s)
here is one without the caution lines i believe im also going to change the concrete geometry so the it a solid slab so there is a good defining line between the tile and the concrete.
|
1 Attachment(s)
here with the geometry changed around the chair. i am going to be working hard on the floor texture tonight what is on it right now is just the basic feel of the texture.and just to let you guys know this aint been easy.this is my first attempt at using UV mapping and i like it but i have no clue what im doing lol:headbang:
|
Wow equinox, i saw this thread when it was just the biggining and now i come back and... WOW. U've done a great job. Lots of small detail to make a great image. Very nice. Im going to have to work ALOT harder on my scene if i want to match this. :headbang:
I reccon the bump on the bricks is a bit too much. Other than that man, I think u're on the right track. |
I also think the picture with the caution lines looks better than with out them.
|
1 Attachment(s)
ok i think ive got my floor done with bloody footprints an all i havent made the bump yet but the modeling on the chair is done :attn: i added the rest of the wires to the hat and added the supprt bars .i decided to go with the caution signs but i made the more worn looking which i think helped out.lemme know what ya think and any advice is more than welcome .
|
i like it, i do have an advice for you.
Maybe have the camera not exactly in front of the chair, but move it a bit more to the left or right, but still have the chair in the center of the image. Also rotate the camera on the B axis a bit would look nice i think well anyhow it's just a suggestion. just see what you are going to do with it. I'm not sure if it looks that great though. but i think it will look nice. |
Also, dim the lights in the rest of the scene somewhat to give it more of an eerie feel. Just leaving the main lamp above the chair...
|
Very nice!
So are you gonna put a guy in there or what? |
nope no guy in the hotseat but the next lucky winner will be in the doorway casting his shadow on the floor. second post has the concept drawing.
|
yeah thanks mark i was thinking it would be a bit creepier looking if i kept it darker .thanks for the help man ill work on that today. as for the camera positioning i think if i move it it will ruin the effect im going for.i want the onlooker to feel as if it is there own shadow they are casting, as if it was me or you in the doorway fixin to fry if you stare at the chair in the last image you will feel that way lol its wierd.
|

well i think im done messin with the floor now im going to tweek my lights i added a window with some bars i think thats going to have a nice effect once done.i also am almost done with the helmet and the arm attatchment with the wires souldnt be long now before the long task of texturing every single part of that bloody chair lol
:headbang: here is a couple of renders of what ive got done so far |

here is the helmet..................
|
hello
i wanted to say that you progress very nicely.
i like the modelling of the objects(the details in them), lighting and most of the textures. the bricks texture...well... doesn't look like bricks. i haven't seen painted bricks like this, but again, maybe it's just me :) i also don't understand the "good quantity" of blood on the floor. i know it adds to the scene some disturbing aspect, but in the other hand , that's not a guillotine room. the warning yellow/black stripes on floor is a good idea :) do you use some reference image/movie ? |
yeah after discussing the blood issue i decided to just make it dirt and grime.
|
1 Attachment(s)
hey guys i added a few things to my scene .i added a couple of puddles and a few bugs i removed the blood and made it more like grime.and as far as my reference image i have only one and thats of the chair the rest is all outta my head.
|
1 Attachment(s)
heres my reference image.its only a guide im making it a bit different but the main look is still the same
|
1 Attachment(s)
sup all . here what ive got so far after endless amounts of time trying to learn UVs lol.:headbang: i still have alot to texture but i think its heading in the right direction.
 any crits welcome .................. |
Looking really good Equinox!:attn: Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the finished product.
|
Very scary/appropriate subject for the competition:beer: . If you are planning on putting someone in the chair...it might be neat to have a shadow of a hand about to pull the "switch" casting (from off scene) onto the wall.
Everything is looking cool to me...except how the bump on the bricks seem to change so drastically in the shadow areas. |
1 Attachment(s)
thanks for the feedback...Im going to be working on the brick texture soon hopefully it will look better :headbang: ...... and as far as when the bricks change from rough to smooth under the shadows i dont have a clue any suggestions on this are welcome.:beer:as far as the peaple in the scene go there is going to be a shadow of a doorway and prisoner overlooking his fate. post 2 has the concept drawing
here where im at with the texturing of everything else. |
