Hello fellow artists!
OK - So I stuffed up on my first 2 entries.... Rule 1. = Show WIP..... GOT IT! This piece will be called 'Soul Catcher'. It will be set in a grave yard - (have not done one of those before). Starting with the background....hmmm.... A Church! I could have used a 2D picture, but, we are LIGHTWAVERS! So, here is an untextured church that I built on Thursday. I used the St. Marys Cathedral in Sydney as a reference. I thought that a real church would react with the surrounding in a more realistic manor. Here she is- all 507485 Polygons. Tonight I will start on the surrounding and perhaps, even the 'Soul Catcher'.... if it's not too dark..... gulp! John Cooper 8 ) |
well if nothing else the model looks excellent! Best of luck with it.
|
you... built that... on Thursday...??? ONE DAY??? <drool>
|
As fast as you model...I hope it's something you get paid for. If you were doing this as a hobby...then I quit. ;)
|
Thank you very much for your kind words!
No, I model for a living. Both freelance in my time and for 3D Crystal Australia. |
truly amazing model  even if it had been done in a week :)
welcome to the challenge gfxforge  |

more like 'the asshole above me'!
why do people act so dumb??? ok, nice model of the church. I would say it's a little overkill though. I personally would feel more creeped out by a small lowly village church with cobble built way back, than a huge modern day behemoth. If you built that in a day you must have a f'king nice system! I know that mine would drag like hell rotating that..lol Really nice model still! ~~CM! |
Unfair Flaming...
I am not one to complain.... but, I am a new member here and I get other members acting like this. (AA...God)
I've never been flamed anywhere else. Constructive comments are always welcome and expected... but, this member is unjustifiably rude! btw... The church may be a huge - it was to be the towns central piece... the icon. tell you what - I'll pull out of this competition..... AA GOD - you have the floor.... Sad to see members behaving like this... |
dude, I hope you weren't referring to me!?
I was calling the guy who posted above me 'bumness ' the asshole for his comment, not you! ~~CM! |
Beautifull!
|
thx Johnny!

Very nice...but why is it in the challenge forum?
|
Maybe it's just me, but I think it a little unfair that someone who has done art for Porsche, Boeing, Australian Defense Force, Quiksilver, Tenix Defense, CSIRO, Aprillia Motorcycles, Honda and Virgin airlines (and more) would take part in a contest where the main participants are just general guys with an interest in 3D art.
Kinda like playing poker against 9 year olds don't you think? Maybe I should just give up now! ~~CM! |
But his composition doesn't fit into the description of the challenge, all it is is a model of St. Marys Cathedral
|
Well I presume he is going to use this as the background in an image, although a picture would have done if it is only going to be in the background.
Still nice model though. ~~CM! |
Hang on!
This church is just a part of the entire composition. I thought you had to upload pieces as you made them...? There was to be a village. A grave yard. The soul catcher etc... The church was just a part of the backdrop. It may be a lot of work for a background - but 1. I wanted to win or place high 2. It's what I do for a living - model like I said - I withdraw. Good luck to the other talented artists in the competition. |
You had everything going right except one thing. You have to upload to one page instead of 3 different ones. This way people don't think that you have 3 entries in at the same time :D. Sorry it all all turned out this way man, you have my symphathies.
|
I did have more than one entry...... perhaps next time I will read the instructions more carefully 8 )
