Hey guys!
Alrighty then, count me in on this one. I've started challenges before and havent actually gotten down to completing them... but this time, i'm gonna set some goals and pace myself. Anyhooz, I've thought of some sort of a "Haunted Barn" which i've been wanting to create since a while. Maybe some long grass in the environment, some random stuff lying around etc. I'll use some beat up wood textures on it (now that i have a tablet to work on). So yeah... I'll be starting my work anytime soon and i'll post a concept sketch tomorrow! ;) Good luck everyone! |
Let's try to keep it more object oriented as opposed to an entire room or environement.
|
hmm... good thing I didnt start anything with the Barn. :p
So I've gotta think of something else now... like my computer tower? or maybe a bulldozer!!! always wanted to make one of those... I'll try and make up my mind by the end of the day :) |
Well, I've made up my mind. I'm not goin with the PC tower idea and neither the tractor. I've decided to go with a CELL PHONE. My cousin bought one of these just a few days ago and i thought i'd model it. Check it out!
Cheers! |

and we have a wire:

seems like unusual wires around your buttons?
|
yeah... see the buttons were supposed to be slightly.. uh... beveled... but i didnt know how to do it properly . the blasted drill and stencil tool wasnt working either... so i just did what i could to make it look like that. lol if someone could guide me in the right direction to do that then that would be greatly appreciated!
|
lol... SmmothShift is your friend, although you'll need to play around with the corner points a little after you've finished your shifting to make certain that the holes are indeed round...

I just made a tute to help you out a little.
Inside the zip is a Microsoft Word file if you have it. If not then there is also a Notepad file that shows how to do it. I also left in the object that i created to help you out if you need reference. |

You have a weird crease on the screen and some geometry is streched.
|
Detailing looking much better now. The buttons sit much more comfortably in the holes now as well making the whole model hang together a lot better.
R4sin - decent tute too - always great to see people helping out each other like this :) Kudos! |
Have to agree there, well done to R4s1n for his mini-tute. The mesh is looking much better now. It looks as though you've pull one set of points too many down at the bottom of your screen. I reckon if you lift them back up that might sort out your strange creasing problem.
|
you've got a nice shape there, once the mesh is sorted you'll be rocking :)

alrighty then, tnx for the tip on fixing those points up there! i'm actually learning a lot on modelling more "efficiently" and with some detail. I've tried to fix up the creasing as much as possible but i'll be looking back at that to see what more i can fix... here's a pic for now:

I just started some work on the other side of the cell phone (the camera side) Here's a sneak peek at the lens
