My Favorite Toy Challenge - Warlock 279
1 Attachment(s)
Wow, did my first CG/internet/forum contest here, eons ago, its great to see them back. :D
Little bit different take on the choice of toy for me, I'm doing the one toy I wanted most, but never got. By the time I was old enough to save enough to buy it, LEGO had discontinued it, I even wrote a letter to LEGO asking if there was anyway to get it, but was told "We're sorry, that model is no long available, we hope you can find something in our current line to fill your interest", or something like that, eventually I had to settle for a different ship. :( Anyway, I'm building the Skull's Eye Schooner, from the LEGO Pirates line, circa 1993 or so. Started on it Friday evening, was busy with it all weekend. The hull bits have taken most of the time so far. Never mind the bricks with missing studs, I'm cleaning off any studs that won't be visible in the end to save on the polycount. |
Nice one man....gotta love lego...good luck mate

Thanks Bullet, good luck to you as well.
More parts and pieces. Found it assembly goes much faster if I take the time to model a whole bunch of pieces from several steps rather than a new each piece each time I come across one. So I spent yesterday making about 30 pieces, and today putting them on the ship. [...hot pink pieces are stuff that needs corrected] |
Looks great Warlock! Lego seems to be popular. :)
|
Superb effort so far Warlock. 10/10

Great Modeling Skills Warlock..................................

s2-speedy - I'd imagine a lot of us creative types we keen on LEGO growing up. So it wouldn't surprise me to see a lot of LEGO models turning up for this.
Mark - Thanks. :) Nuke - Eh, the modeling's not really too challenging, very very very very tedious, but not overly difficult. I'd say its more a test of patients and discipline than actual modeling skill. Update, slowed down some, but still going. Masts and such added. Still missing a few odd pieces, a window and a couple doors. Then it needs a crew and some sails. Bit easier to see in grey, than it is in color at the moment. |
Brillliant! :D

Lego models always look cool.

Thanks guys. :)
Not had a whole lot of time to work on this, but I'm getting it finished up. Ships just about done. Some texture work to do on it yet tho. Working on the crew now. No time for a render, so just a screen grab. [Stats are without the four cannons.] |
Great job so far !
|
wow man f*****g cool LOL that is great mate!
cheers bullet |
Cant wait to see it finished Warlock Looks cool :) One of my faves from those who are doing lego.

Wow, thanks guys, I'm glad you're digging it. :D
Crew and such. Still have a fair bit of texture work left to do yet. |
Super Sweet! Deffinetly a contender I think. :) Love the Crew!
|
If i was a lego-woman i would have jumped on those sailors! Great texturing, modeling ... Great all around !
|
Very nice. I especially like the texturing of the crew.
|
Very very nice ship. One crit would be the spacing of the lego blocks seems tight. Can't see any gaps from block to block.
|
Just a reminder that you have until the end of tomorrow to post your final entry for the challenge in this thread
Good luck :) Dave |

s2-speedy - Thanks. I hope it does well too, but there's some other really good looking work.
SMFloris - Haha, thanks, glad you like it, and the crew. sandman300 - Thanks. :) lightmod - The spacing's there, it seems to be getting a little lost tho for sure, a casualty of image size, color, reflections, and jpg'ing it seems, except for places where there's a real high spec hit. You should be able to get a better idea of the spacing from this pic. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...LEGOSES_2N.jpg David - Thanks, will do. Wow, its been a long road, thanks for the support along the way guys. Final images for me, I'm exhausted. [Better resolution images...] http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...r-1200_01H.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...-1200W_02H.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...-1200W_01H.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...-1200C_01H.jpg [Super-cool Hi-Res...] http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...oner-2k_01.jpg |
