A Paper Plane

Hey, I'm doing a project in which a figure picks up a piece of paper and folds it into a paper plane.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I should tackle the folding of the paper? I've managed to get a version up and working using morph maps but the folds are very straight and quite "unpaper" like... would it be possible to do this with bones or else some other way?

Any other tips on modelling and animating realistic paper would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Pete

A Paper Plane...the same need

An interesting idea that I also tried to execute, but with minimal success. At the time, I was very much a novice to LW (not all that advanced yet) and had to jump back to Infini-D to pull it off (crudely). I'd be interested to see how you solve this and your end product. It might prove to be a good tutorial to be posted. Sorry I can't help, but I can learn with you.

Good luck.

Hmm. I'm no animation expert, but I guess that you could achieve this somehow by a mixture of using bones and weight maps to somehow set the folding area. This would allow you to achieve some reasonably ragged edges and appear more paper - like.

Sorry I can't be more help. Perhaps Phil might have some ideas???

HI I did something like that and just morphed it into a shape using the mix morpher.

Good luck
