spiral staircase

Hello, whats the setup for spiral steps? i used the clone tool and can match up and out, but just can't get it around. i figured the pivot point would pull it around(offset to pole center).step is single box about 200mm 100mm 50mm.
thanks scott

Hmmm. You may need to make a circle of points, stretch them up as origins for your steps, make an open poly, and do a rail clone (I think).

The basic idea being that each point would be given one step. It can be handy because if you need to spin other parts for it, the points are still there.

There is a good tute for that somewhere.... if I can find it.

THAT WAS FAST! i got into lightwave from Bryce. in bryce you could pull your pivot point out(offset to center pole).duplicate
up,over and divide no. of steps into 360 degrees and it would go right around,if you know what i mean. scott

I figured it out. it's all in the heading rotation.after many tries,my first wedge step required a 12 degree heading by24 steps and it went right on around. thanks scott

Glad to hear it. Sometimes when I am modeling I rely on the fact that even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. :)
