need help on figure
i'm working on figure modeling.found a book by Ken Brilliant,
Building a Digital Human. now all is going well until he instructs to split polys around the side of the face and under the chin(p.61) with an edge tool.i have Lw 7.0 and can not upgrade(it was givin to me,no key).the edge plugin tool doesn't work on 7.0. how can i split these. i will be purchasing the program this summer, thanks scott |
Would bandsaw do it at all? or the knife tool? Or maybe Quicksaw:
http://www.davidikeda.com/quicksaw.html The only other way I can think of (since the edge tool plugin doesn't work) is to manually deconstruct then reconstruct each poly but that's really mad. |
hi ,found quiksaw and it came up saying(in modeler) for 2.5 or later ,.i can,t win. bandsaw's to global.i need a local split.
still new to program though. but i'm gettin around. actually, most of the plugins require 7.5 according to the popup message that i have tried. suppose i should start saving now! thanks again scott |
Well i would agree to bandsaw. But since you only need that poly to be split. Then you can try many other techniques. I would cut out the chin area and rework it, spin quads and unify some polys and then attach it back. You can also try to tripple the poly. But dont think you will like the results. 7.0 and 7.5 modeller has not much difference. Stick with it and i am sure you will get some results.

Ok,i know i'll get it some how. later i'll be saying "DUH"!?.
i was tring another method that didn't involve this.either way, with pratice i'll be alright. sooooo much to learn,i love it! thanks scott |
well I shouldnt say this because it is the lazy option but you might be able to export it as an object file to a free software wings 3d since it has an edge tool. not sure if it works havent tried it myself but my friend had no trouble opening files in LW from that program. I think LW 8 will have the tool::cool:
