rendering with more than one layer
i have an question about rendering!! i have created an raptor head, and it has more than one layer!! the head itselfs is in layer 1, the eyes are in layer 2 and the teeth in layer 3. when i make an render of it, it only renders the selected object! if i want to render it all, i have to put al the objects in one layer.
does anyone know how i must render with more than one layer!! I dont know if you understand this question, because my english is not very good. but when you dont understand it, tell me, and i will post some screens here to show you what i mean!! thanks a lot for the replys!!! |
Make sure the layers are set to load with layout and that they are visiable in layout. You can check these in the modeler layers pannel. In the layers pannel there should be a dot under the eye for each layer.
In modeler make sure you parent the objects correctly so when you move your object in layout the object will move as one. With a charactor it helps to have a null that everything is parented to so you can move it all with one null. To parent in modeler double click on the layer in the layers pannel then select from the dropdown list that layers parent. Also be sure your useing "Load Object" not the "Load Object from Layer" if your loading from layout. |
yo thanks for the answer 9ball!!! i can now render the objects!!!

well...here it is!!! the background of that render with only the head was just an test. It was the first time to see how to make backgrounds :)
there is only an procedual texture at the head, and an UV mapping at the eye!!! http://home.hetnet.nl/~minzetenwoude...AP/raptors.jpg http://home.hetnet.nl/~minzetenwoude...tor%20head.jpg hope you like it :) feel free to comment!! |
Cool I like it :D Very clean modeling.

they look cool, all they need is a little laptop in there hand and lightwave in there mind :D
|
I like the models..
Hmm since the topic is about rendering layers, Jonny can we like use the layers for another purpose, like rendering out the channels and compositing them in lightwave. Heard about that. Gives better results,,, well i have not tried anything like that yet. Just want a explanation on it i guess. |
thank you for the ( positive :) ) opinions!!!
