Ok,

When I dicovered what HDRI is, I became very impressioned of what it can do.....

So, this is my first HDRI render......

Sweet, never had the time for HDRI,,, but i know i have to try that someday... How are the render times?

OGIVA_ARKHAM 20-01-2004 10:03 PM

Not to long...

Radiosity is much more slow....

Leovenous 21-01-2004 02:06 AM

nice. Have you tried to figure out how to make your own HDRI images?

Claudio 21-01-2004 02:32 AM

I was reading about it, and you will need a program to do that.
I will find that and will post here.

Leovenous 21-01-2004 03:17 AM

I have HDRshop. And I think it can do a lot, but the documentation stinks.

sod 21-01-2004 05:43 AM

For a perfekt HDRI Image you need a special camera that can turn on the z axis fully 360 degrees (I hope at least one person is going to understand my english :>).

HAZCHEM 21-01-2004 06:15 AM

What is HDRI any way. And how does it relate to Radiosity.

DigiMatt 21-01-2004 07:17 AM

Nice work Ogiva!! :)

HAZCHEM, question been raised before, do a forum search and you'll find lots of info.. basically its an image that can hold alot more information on brightness etc. than a normal image.. its most often used to light a scene and as scene environment.

OGIVA_ARKHAM 21-01-2004 11:10 AM

Thanks for the comments....

Well, if Im not wrong, HDRI have more than RGB information inside pixels, somehow it can bring light information...

RiGLEY 21-01-2004 02:28 PM

You are basically right, a HDR image contains a very big color range ( you can not see this on your monitor, because a monitor is only capable of displaying 24 bit ), so it is very useful for example to lit a scene...or anything else, bacause a good hdr image can mimic the environment (where the image was taken). So for example you wrap a hdr image around your scene switch on radiosity.. and there you go ... You can even turn off the lights in your scene if you want to.

Like sod said (hehe it sounds good:) creating a good hdr image is not too easy. One way to create one is to get a mirror ball, and make some shots of the sorrounding environment reflected in the mirror ball with different exposure settings. Then combine the images in a program like HDRShop (www.debevec.org).

OGIVA : Your picture is nice, but it seems to me, that you have only used a hdri for a reflection map. Try to lit your scene with a hdri too.

OGIVA_ARKHAM 21-01-2004 10:25 PM

Nice, thanks RiGLEY!!!!

Im kind a newbie on LW but and Im learning a lot here, so critics are very wellcome :)

Claudio 22-01-2004 12:03 AM

Hey Ogiva, could you change it to yellow too.... :)

rich_is_bored 22-01-2004 12:52 AM

I've got a question. An HDRI image is really just an image with 16 bits per channel right?
