I think on the model it A) has too much balding (from what I can see) and B) no 5 o'clock shadow.

Looks good. There appear to be some creasing in the model that you may want to take a look at smoothing. This is most likely because of (a) 2 point polys floating around in the mesh (merge points, and delete them), (b) Too many subdivisions in a small space (try and do some poly merging to lighten the mesh in those areas, weld/merge points then delete 2 point polys), or (c) you may have some points where >4 patches come in. You'll need to try and add patches/points to eliminate these.

Overall though, it's looking real good. Keep it going.

The model is definitely recognizable as you! You have a very distinctive facial shape which you've captured pretty well. Couple of worry points - the outer corner of the eyelid looks a bit squashed - theres a bit that juts out there which you might want to think about moving back into the head. Also watch the jawline - since you haven't supplied a side view of yourself, its difficult to see how your own jawline flows but the models jawline goes in a straight line from the chin to the bottom of the ear whereas most people's jawlines drop down slightly below the ear.

If you look at the wireframe of your mesh, you'll see that each point is shared by a number of polygons (or patches in SubPatch mode). When you are working with subpatches, each shared polygon adds a certain weight to the point. The optimum number of these is four in Lightwave. More than that, and you start to notice artifacts in the model (such as curved areas showing distinct edges or points) around the area where the patches converge.

nice mate - the only real difference is that you look more stoned in your real pic :D

well... why don't you take some pictures of yourself... like a front and side views and try to add poly by poly and move points so you can get a more accurate 3d self portrait...
that's what I do and seems to work... heres a portrait of a friend... not finished yet...
