HDRI help
 

Hey im having trouble rendering using HDRI, I got an image from
http://www.debevec.org/Probes/ and read up on how hdri works briefly. Im pretty sure im doing every thing right but I keep getting weird results, for some reason there seem to be all these white dots all over every thing. I don’t have AA on either. Does any one know what I am doing wrong

Its possible that they could be caused by the white points from the HDRI image causing blowouts in your final render (after all, you've got a lot of reflectivity going on there).

Couple of things to try:
(1) Slightly blur your HDRI image (or use a 1-5% reflection blurring on your surfaces) to try and clear down these 1 pixel hotspots.

(2) Try darkening the HDR image with a plugin like HDRI expose to see if that stops the blowouts...

Ta mate i will have to give it ago, just one qustion how would i go about bluring the HDRI image.

Open the image editor in LW, and select your HDRI image. Then go to the Processing tab and add the 'Full Precision Blur' filter to the image. Should do the trick...

I would also suggest trying an HDIR image from the lightwave directory. Folder-Lightwave-Images-HDIR This way you can see if its the HDIR image thats causeing the problem by trying another one.

blurring the HDRI in the LW image editor will definitely help.
Also go to the Lights tab -> Global Illumination and check shading noise reduction, up your rays per evaluation to 4x12 and use Backdrop radiosity.
In the Camera properties enable AA, enhanced low, disable adaptive AA.

If this still doesn't get rid of the white spots you'll have to increase the rays per evaluation even more.

Sorry fellas for the later reply, i tried what you fells said but non of them had any affect except for one where i put the HDRI exposure filter on it made all these diffrent colours. Could one you guys like me to a site where i can get a HDRI image taht you know works from experience.

hi i tried to use a HDRI image fo a car texture. I have a little proble my car is suppossed to be orange and we see the color of the hdri image. I dont know if it because i have to much reflection but i take the preset on this site. For exemple I got the same result of the image at the top. We dont see de chrome et se the image. Thanks.

Hazchem, try one of the HDRI images that ships with Lightwave (in the Lightwave\Images\HDRI folder)...
