Endorphin 31-03-2004 01:15 PM

this tutorial is gonna cost as much as a real McLaren...:)

philip 31-03-2004 01:30 PM

nope, but it will look just like one :) don't you think?

honestly I believe it's by far the best and most complete car tutorial out there. Including commercial (and highly expensive) DVDs.

yes I agree to philip, I have never seen nothing like it!

great work

Never has anything ever been attempted and offered on the web in such complete detail like this Mclaren tutorial. Its the most complete car tutorial ever made and offered on the web at a very reasonable price.

Sorry to bring this up again but.... Could you please change the background color in the perspective window before making the remaining videos?

If the background color in the perspective window weren't so dark, or even if it had a hint of color to it, it would be easier to make sense of the adjustments being made to black surfaces. Instead I find myself trying to figure out where the surface ends and the background begins.

The only solution people like myself have at the moment is using a player that allows you to make adjustments to brightness and contrast or changing our monitor settings back and forth.

since these 2 parts were already recorded when you posted this request I couldn't consider it.

But the following parts will not only have a brighter background, I also made the very dark materials brighter.

k?

Actually, Lewis did a full car tutorial on LWG3D a while ago so it has been attempted and it is free so the price is reasonable as well. Personally I far prefer Philips and as a video tutorial, it hasn't been done like this before. Just giving credit where it is due.

philip 31-03-2004 08:45 PM

true, I had a glimpse at lewis' tute when I just started with LW (fall 2001), and it really was the most complete car tute at that time. I was really impressed that he took the time doing it.

Johnny9ball 31-03-2004 09:25 PM

I should have added thats its a video tutorial. I know there are complete car tutorials out there. I dont beleave there is a complete video car modeling tutorial as of yet. That is one as complete as Philip is doing it.

The differance between video tutorials and reading text tutorials is like Night and Day.

How many parts?

Hey Philip, any idea how many parts this tut will have in total?

E.

philip 31-03-2004 09:51 PM

yes, but I won't say :p

(if it's more in the end, some people would probably start arguing...)

but you can see our progress in the testrenders and screenshots I post; the exterior isn't too far from completion.

How long before we start modeling the Garfield Cat hanging on the inside windows?

I will guess 70 parts minimum
