anyone know of a tool / plugin that allows you to select all the points to the left of the 0 accross the x (so i want to select all -x valued points)

Hmm,,, sounds a little weird why you need to have a plugin for that... the lasso tool... Right click.... can help you select the points.

well its a little hard when the model is ove 25k polygons, with creveces near the centre.. well if there isnt one ill have to do it manualy..

i want to quemloss a model, but would like it symetrical for uv purposes, its a simple human female, so you can guess how the centre around 0 would look in the chest and rear area, hard to select them.

Try using volume selection mode and setting your volume in the numeric panel...

Or,,, after you select the half,,, say ten mins later,,, create a selection set... and save it.. so you can use it later.

What I would probably try is to use band saw to select the band of polygons that you were after, then use one of those poly to point selection tools. Yes, it does mean you get two sets of points selected, but at least it puts you on the right track. This might have a couple of plugins that might help at least:
