this is a skyscaper i made from a tutorial from the book: "inside lightwave"

i'm very proud of it :D But to be honest it doesn't represent my knowledge of lightwave yet. I could not have made this without that tutorial and i had to do alot of things that i just don't understand yet...but anyway :)

Really nice looking, Neone - and I'm glad you're proud with the results too. Even though its from a tutorial, these are still really great images.

Very nicely done. I agree with FSMan - it is an excellent result. The skyscraper tute is a superb starting point. Now that you've managed to get through it, play with the tools in Lightwave and see if you can come up with your own. Then, after you've learnt the tools a little more, try and re-do the tutorial again from scratch, but take your time over it, and try to understand at each step exactly what you are accomplishing.

You'll be surprised at how much you'll find you've learned, and more importantly, how much technique will start to show through (second time through you should be starting to think "Why did he do it that way. What about if I try doing it this way?") :D

First thing i gonna do now is (try :D) to tame modeler abit and try to comprehend all the tools there. Right now i'm trying the head tutorial from the same book just to see how everything reacts.

Another good way to learn the tools in Modeller is to simply work with a primitive or two.

That way, you can really get a feel for how a tool performs without the clutter or hastle of actually attempting anything to complex with it.

Just take an hour or so out of each day and play with half a dozen or so tools - you'll be surprised at how naturally it all comes.

You'll also find that you'll end up with probably a couple dozen tools that end up being your favourites eventually, and then hardly look at the rest...

Actually, LightWave 8 Killer Tips is out, and Inside LightWave 8 is about to print. I'm creating a few more videos for the DVD this very moment, and hope to send that in tomorrow or Friday.
This new tome will be out in June. There's so much to LightWave 8 that many things like IK Boost and Bone Dynamics are better explained visually - so, I've included Quicktime movies on the free DVD-ROM shipping with each book.

Next, we'll be releasing our 3D Garage LightWave 8 Courseware, and then something new by August. Actually, two new things, one for 3D Garage, and one for all LightWave users worldwide. More info on this soon. :)

I slightly remember a Picture of a new [Digital] book on compositing on your website like [Digital] Compositing. I havent seen it released or any more information on it. Do you know anything about a [Digital] series book on compositing?

[digital] Compositing got shelved, but perhaps they'll revisit it. It was underway, and the author just quit. Something like that....
However, I think there is a [digital] Modeling book coming. That will be cool.
