Up Grades
Hi Folks
I have recived a free upgrade to LW8 and when I installed it, I was asked if I already had a license key from NewTek and thinking they meant my 7.5 license key which IS in 1234-1234-1234 format, I said "yes" and typed it in and went on with the installation and everything was fine. Now when I open up LW8, I get the familiar "Your temporary license key has "X" number of days remaining". Any help would be sound John |
Yep. This one caught me out too.
When the registration wizard asks you if you've already got a key, its referring to a LW8 key (which you don't have yet). So, instead of clicking the "I already have a license key" button, simply click next - this will take you to a page that shows your Dongle ID. Click next again, and you'll be taken to a registration options page. A button here will take you to the newtek website and allow you to complete the registration procedure. For your previous version of Lightwave, enter the serial number for the LW7.5 CD that Newtek should have sent you if you bought the DFX+ bundle. You'll then get your key back via return of email (mine took just a few hours). |
If you are registered on Newtek's site you will get your key displayed immediately. This might be different outside of Newtek USA

I got my Key and all seems ok. I now have Lightwave 7.5 and Lightwave 8 on my HD. Can i remove 7.5 or does it still have to be there as lightwave 8 is an upgrade? If this a dumb quest i apologise John |
Nope, unless you have a need to keep it there, you can safely get rid of LW[7.5]
