Project FORKYS
Hi all,
I wont go into much detail as to what FORKYS is about but, as the name suggests it involves forklifts and warehousing type environments. So i wish to post a few screens of my work so far for your perusal and comments. The first is a fire extinguisher (backgroud object) http://members.optusnet.com.au/aarmo...uisher red.jpg |
Project FORKYS
Second is a test still involving robotic equipment and forklifts. Was a texture and lighting test really as i am still learning. Just over 3hrs for render time.

3rd & 4th are pallet and pallet with rusty old drums. I will post shots of the near completed forklift shortly.

Project FORKYS
Here are some shots of the forklift. So many different tools and techniques used in its construction. It is not yet complete.

nice done!! their are some nice details at these!! only 2 critics:
the texture on the fire extinguisher looks a little bit blurry and their is strange lightning on the barrels!!! anyhow!! great job!! |
Brrrm - for some reason, I've always wanted to drive a fork lift! I'd agree with bullet_evader - the texture on the fire extinguisher does look a bit blurry to me although your modelling is very sound. The oil drums look like they could use a bit of a bump map to them as well. The general modelling looks fine though.
|
bullet_evader: Thanks, i have had trouble with image maps in general and am learning ways to correct the blurryness.
Fallenswordsman: If you want a job driving forklift and you live in australia give me a call :) The drums have a dented bump map that might need an increase to the percentage. but they will be in the background so i will see when i run my next test still. If anyone wants to see wireframe pics of anything just ask and i will post. |
Hey Ozwolf! Thanks for the offer! Stranger things have happened in the past - one of my colleagues went to Australia for a while and he ended up working in everything from traffic policeman to cookie baker. We have a fork lift at work but I don't think anyone trusts me with it!
Will be great to see how this image progresses - I agree that things that will be in the background don't need that huge an amount of detail. Best of luck with it! |
I will need some help setting up the dash board lighting, it will need to have a backlit feel to it and if a close up is required an animated version of the image will have to be created, is this generally a simple process or complicated?

objects are interesting, but the lightning is poor. turn off ambient light and use area lights.
my advice: put one light in front left or right and put one back light in the opposite direction of the front with reduced intensity and some darker color. turn on shadows, activate shading noise reduction, on surfaces decrease diffuse a little bit. also, activate background radiosity, and play a little with gradient backdrop to get an satisfying result. just that :-) |
greent, i appreciate the tips, some good advice there, but the images above all except for the one involving the robotic arms are just quick renders so i have images of the models in my folder and are not intended to be anything more than that.
I have posted these images so you guys to see some of the bits and peices that will be featured in my properly lit scenes :) |
