looks very nice :) but you need some surroundings to reflect in the glass to give it that extra realistic look. a HDRI would do too
|
I second DigiMatts comments.
I really like the textured glass effect. It would seriously kick butt with a simple background to reflect or a HDRI if you've got the time. |
HDRI help
i need some help with HDRI (how to do it???) Any help wellcome :)
|
Easy as -
go to image editor - load and select an HDRI image from your lightwave images directory - Kitchen.pic would be a good start. Go to your scene backdrop settings and add image world. In the image world settings, select the kitchen.pic that you loaded into the scene. Change the brightness value to about 80% to start with. Render using radiosty - backdrop only to start with and see how you like the results. Play with the settings till you're happy. Cheers, Roux |
how cann i create kitchen.pic, what program do i need?
|
You don't have to use an HDRI image. You can use a low dynamic range image and it will work but it helps if the image is fisheyed like this...
http://www.cs.vu.nl/~dschreij/mma2/v.../spheremap.jpg If you have a digital camera and a mirrorball you can maker your own... http://www.cgtechniques.com/lightbox/tutorials/makehdr/ |
kitchen.pic is part of the content on the CD for 6.5,7.5 and 8. If you search your lightwave directory for *kitchen* you should find it. You could also use a LDRI from any other image editor as stated by rich_is_bored but you should increase the brightness to 100% or more ( normally they give less luminance becuase the value is capped at 100% luminance in the image)
Hope this helps. |
HDRI - try one

Render time 1 hour, used HDRI and radiosity (Monte Carlo 100%)
|
looking great.. you see how much it adds to the realism just by adding a HDRI image.. great work!
|
Much better!
Only suggestions now would be to add some depth to the tiles map and add some dramatic lighting. Nice job on the glass and I still like that texture. Is is a bitmap or procedural bump? |
thx to all :) i made glass texture whit gradients (its sooo easy). Now i will create some surroundings (kitchen or something like that)
|
Does your glass has refraction? Here are some values http://hypertextbook.com/physics/waves/refraction/
