Character: Goth

Hi,

I bought another Figurine, that I wanted to model.

This one is a Bleeding Edge Goth. This is not my own design, and I'm not trying to copy it exactly. Just using this for practise at proportion. Gona do a few more of these, to help fine tune my eye for proportion.

Here is a photo of the Figurine:

And here is my progress:

Feeling very self critical about this one, but I am treating it as a learning exercise, so hit me hard with that crit plz.

Not too much to crit from what I can see.

Maybe the breasts are slightly incorrect - they look too rounded on your model, the figurine looks like they're slighly more pointed.

Also, the legs on your model look a little on the skinny side compared to the figurine.

Apart from that though. Looking good.

Ah, the Bleeding Edge goths - I've got a couple of these myself. Love the little characters. Anyway harsh crits like you asked for - I think the eye shapes are a bit incorrect in that the outer edge seems way too high. Shoes need some detailing work as well and her feet seem a little small. Any chance of a close up of the face at a couple of angles?

Hi Fellas,

Apreciate the crit. Have been tweaking. Plz let me know what U think of the update.

Can't see any image here, Davey.

wow, I like it. Could we see a wireframe?

Fallenswordsman 08-06-2004 05:18 PM

Ah - here's the image! Something not quite right about the facial shape, Davey. Maybe its the angle, but the curve of her bangs just don't look right and its throwing the rest of the face off a bit.

Hi Guys,

Thanx for all of the cool crit. I realy apreciate it.

I am happy with this model now, and need to move on to my next exerice in proportion. Thinking of maybe modeling a Teenage Mutant Heroe Tutle next. My Daughter has a small collection of them, and theres nothing better than having actual 3 dimensional ref infront of U.

Heres the wires.

I'll have more renders tomorrow. My wife has kindly offered to rig this character, so that I can quickly move on to the next model.

Just wondering if you were going to add details to the shoes or are they going to be left like that (not that there's anything wrong with them being left)

Hi Fallenswordsman,

Sorry, no more details, more an exercise in proportions. Moving on after rigging and poseing.

Hi jake,

Thankyou.

I have rigged this Goth character:

After which, I discovered the IK Boost videos. Wow, have spent a few hours messing with this new tool. I have figured that I can integrate it into my current rigging work flow, and avoid all of that peskey parenting. The Limits functions are a realy nice feature. now I can move limbs without worrying about them doing unnatural things, hehe. More over, there are bone dynamics, WOW, I can't wait to have a play with that stuff.

Have a little animation in mind. Gona try and get it going tomorrow.

Best Wishes
