You need a Rules and Guidelines Sticky.

I was reading a thread earlier and was a bit puzzled.

A fairly new member here asked for some help and recieved it in the form of a series of links to text based tutorials.

Shortly after a site admin mentioned that it was against the forum's policy to post links to tutorials.

I think that things like this could be prevented if there was some kind of rules and guidelines thread. I don't see one here and since there apparently are rules, it would be benificial to everyone to know what they are in advance.

Was the offending link removed? I can't tell because I don't see a "EDIT: Link Removed - See rule X".

I can understand if the link pointed to a pay site or video tutorial as that would compromise your business, but all I see are text based tutorials.

Links like those have been posted before and I don't see a difference in this case. How many times have members here linked to a tutorial on NewTek's site?

I'm going to need some clarification before I feel comfortable posting links again.

When it comes to answering a member's questions, In most cases, I'd rather post a link to a free third party resource, than type a long-winded explanation myself that I'm not even sure will get the point across.

No offense taken and if you took my post that way I appologize. I'm not trying to be a drama queen or anything.

I just think that saying "no tutorial links please" is a little misleading when in reality it is more like "no tutorial links from competitive sites".

At any rate, I think we are on the same page. Thanks for the quick responce.

:)
