Wow, I am speachless. That is just insane. How many polys are in the mclaren car?

I bet Philip has been asked this question a million times already hehe! OK OK, including me, I asked him about this last week. I hope he doesn't mind me posting this:

Quote:

I rendered seperate version with wireframes and in the reel blended from wireframe to fully lit and textured.

1. do you have a model handy to render? ok, make sure all the subpatches are frozen. Use a subpatch level that results in the desired mesh density.
2. Then apply a gray, non-specular material to all objects. Send them over to layout.
3. Now select each object and open the properties panel (or use the spreadsheet).
4. Go to the edges tab, and tick hard edges, silhouette edges and other edges. Start with a dark gray and an edge size of 1 pixel.
5. Hit F9.
6. Turn on shadows and use an area light with a quadratic falloff.

How did you make the tree? Did you model it yourself your use treegen or tree cage? It's very nice.

Look in the downloads section here on the site. There's a free lscript for building trees.

PolarBear53 26-06-2004 09:28 PM

Yea, I downloded it and tried it. The only problem I have with it is that it just puts leaves everywhere. Even where there aren't branches. In philips they are all connect to the tree, it looks very nice.

The trick is to not have the plugin create the leaves. You'll see from the grassy knoll tutorial where Philip makes use of the tree generator script that he uses an entirely diffrerent technique for generating the leaves...

Is there a completed picture of the scene? I got a few points, but not nearly enough for mclaren.

Two days later.

ANYONE??????
