Null and parenting question
Hello,
I have a Null created in Layout with a few objects parented to that null. I now want to move only the Null position because it's not in the position I want it to be. I do not want the parented items to move. Is there a way to move "only" the null without having to unparent the objects that are parented to it and then re-parent them after moving the Null? Thanks, Edmund T. Mathews Ironye Productions, Inc. www.ironye.com edmund@ironye.com |
You want something like Dynamic Parenting. Do a search in 'Plug-Ins' on Flay.com- there's a couple free ones that claim to do that. Probably be less a hassle just unparenting everything, moving and re-parenting though.

Also in LW8 a least, in Modeller you can parent object layers to another layer, so for example you can just create a point in say layer 20, go through the layers and in layer settings (in modeler) parent them all to layer 20 then in Layout parent layer20 to a null. Same amount of work unless planned for but *shrug*..

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I actually found another way to do it in Layout that seems to be working so far. I can select the Null and then "Move Pivot" to move the Null where I need to. Thanks. Edmund T. Mathews Ironye Productions, Inc. www.ironye.com |
Move Pivot works great dealing with XYZ movement, just don't rotate the null on HPB. And if it works on rotation, tell me what you did.. :)

Hello,
Now that you mention it the Null I did the, Move Pivot, on was not rotated so fortunatley it worked. I vaguely recall another Null being messed up because there was HPB rotation on it. :( If I find another way of dealing with this issue I will certainly let you know. Thanks again for your help.
