Aug/Sep - Norm - Kumar
Ok guess i am going with LW for one last time,,, hmm,,, next time i will try Maya or Max... Hope to learn more about UV stuff in this challenge...
My choice... Combo of three dinos... Going for a reasonable look. T-Rex with spikes of Stego,,,, running on the back,,,, slightly larger front legs,,, and Larger canie teeth like Sabre tooth... Shorter Tail and with the sikes on them... Will post my concept soon. Kumar |
Hi Kumar,
Mate just out of pure curiosity why would you choose Maya and max over lightwave? This is probably not the thread to ask this question. I am keen to see the entries from the norm competitors. Good Luck!! |
to ozwolf. they have more some extra things then lightwave and seam pretty much better all but better usually means harder so im learning in lightwave first myself
anyway looking forward to it kumar great idea :) |
Hehe,,, well ozwolf... Max,,, i have to pick up,,,, for job purposes,,, if i am going to make the transition soon. Hopefully i confirm things with the studio soon, I already have ver 5 with me, thanks to the ppl. As for Maya.. it attracts me slowly,,, because its like LW it contains things all under one hood. Have to agree with Sharp,,, there are things that will make you go wow,,, coool... Like for example,,, if you wanted to say do a UV map of a head in LW,,, man,, the steps you have to go through to get it right is
ARRRGG... ,, Unweld,,, morph,,,,,, flatten,,,,, planar UV,,,,,,layout,,,,,,,baking,,,,,,morph target,,,,,,,save transformed,,,,,merge points. As for Maya,,, cut the model in half..... Map that,,,, enter into the editor and start to pull the points and adjust the map,,, Mirror, and flip the UVs,,, and sew them up. Okok i know LW is good at texturing and all,,, but the abillity to handle the CVs without worriing about the model is a welcomed sight... I know there are plugins and all,,, but hey,,, maya has that built in,,, i can go on about cllusters, paint tools and bla bla bla... Even though i am a noob at Maya. Kumar |

Ok thanks for the explanation, as a newbie modeller i am still learning about things such as uv mapping ect and my understanding of the more technical and advanced tools is limited so i guess as i get better i will have a better understanding. I have been lucky enough to try max, maya and lightwave and i must say max and maya are by no means user friendly to a newbie thus why i settled with lightwave.
But none the less i am very keen to see your entries progress. Good Luck |

i think it will look a bit better if you make the eyes smaller!!if you look to your reference picture you see that the t-rex had a very small eye!!! anyhow...looks great...keep on going |
