update, got the text on it, but the liquid is rubbish, :( anybody got tips on how to make this photo-real ??

cheers

first thing ! use subpatch for the botle...second...you know you have to be realy good with lw to create a realistic scene without GI...so i sugest you activate GI...third....you have to create double and normal flipped geometry for the botle and the liquid. do a search on google for lightwave tutorials on the web...you'll find a site with lots of tutorials....look for a tutorial with a honey jar.

anyhelp would be great, cheers :p

turn caustics on

You might also need to turn the ray recursion limit up somewhat too to get the secondary bounces on the ground.

were can this be found ??

ray recursion

You'll find it under the 'Render options' panel in layout:

ok, im trying to render out my final scene, with caustics and radiosity on, but when i hit F9 and it starts rendering pologons, it just crashes  am i doing somthin wrong ?

it just says program not responding,

thx :p

Mark 26-08-2004 02:49 PM

Rendering and caustics can be real render hogs, and can look like you've crashed the system.

My advice would be (if you've not got fPrime :)) to start the render, but make sure you've got a small 'show rendering in progress' window visible, and simply leave it rendering overnight. See how it behaves in the morning.

davie563 26-08-2004 03:26 PM

this is wierd, now when i take of radiosity and caustics, the thing still dosent render, it used to render the scene in amin or 2, but now nothin, is there a chance the file could be screwed ??

i dont know what the hell is hapinin, i tried rendering it but it took 30min to render 2 we dots on the screen,

all those renders u se above took mins to render, but now in the same setting i get nothing :(
