Lightwave to Maya?

I posted somthing similar to this in another thread but I would really like this question answered mostly. I apologize if it appears like I am making the forum conjested.

Is it possible to load Lightwave objects into Maya? I think one uses Polygons and the other NURBS... I am new to all of this so pardon my ignorance

Ok, its possible, you need to export your model from lightwave as a OBJ format. Then in Maya import it. Simple as that. Works very well natively too. Oh ya, as for textures and so fort... you might need to redo the UVs and so on.

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING ABOUT?

When you have a completed model that you are ready to export you should do this to export it as .obj file.
Have the model open in Lightwave.
Click on 'File' and scroll down to where it says 'Export'.
There is another tab that will open when you have your cursor on Export. It shows all the file types that the file can be exported as. One of them shows 'Export OBJ'.
That is what Kumar explained to you about.

Cheers!

Thanks bud, yup exactly. But remember that in Maya you wont see a model subpatched. So you need to convert it into a subdivision surface. Then the UVing will start i guess(the move and sew will be amazing). Finishing off with the animation setup,, if you want to go there. Mostly people bring the model to maya for animation.
