Exterior WIPS

1 Attachment(s)
Have thrown together this exterior WIP today. Based on an image I saw this morning. Can't remember who did it.

Purely eyeballed the whole thing. The car isn't mine, its a downloaded freebie from...god my memory is bad - Sorry to whoever made this great model available.

Thoughts / comments? :)

Thanks guys.
zostix: I agree but it is an inner city building so I guess to many windows is not likely. I didn't design this one, just modelled it so I'm happy with the result so far. Will post an update when I get some more time.

Cheers

Love the work, especially the tree shadow

an unrelated question but what's your job - architect, interior designer, modeller? if you don't mind me asking.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment.

I'm currently an e-learning multimedia specialist with a multi national boredom factory but have my own (flegdling) 3D / graphic design business.
Looking to escape from the first one by the end of this year:cool:

Hey, fantastic. I always wanted to learn how to build up a house from a dxf drawing. There is no tutorial anywhere.

I like that house.

Roux 06-05-2005 09:57 AM

Erizo: Thanks. If you have the boxed version of LW [8], there's a pretty cool little blue book that comes with it. Inside is a good tutorial that will help you a lot and you can use scans or any other form of reference you can get your hands on.

My one above was eyeballed from a 3D image and not from plans at all:o

When i upgraded to v8 from v7.5 i only get 4 Cds, but not any book. :(

How can i buy that little book?

Roux 06-05-2005 12:44 PM

Ouch! I paid for the printed manual which weighs a tonne and the book was packaged with it.

I don't know if you get the same package from your dealers in Spain but it cost about $150 Australian dollars plus postage for the manual.

You might want to check it out before spending any money though.
The book is called " Getting Started Guide" by Timothy Albee and Steve Warner.

Erizo 06-05-2005 03:20 PM

I canīt find it. Does it have an ISBN number?

Roux 06-05-2005 10:38 PM

No, it comes as part of the Printed manual set for LW[8] or with the boxed version of LW[8]. I don't think the book is available separately.

Check with your NT dealer.

Cheers

Renders look nice. Only thing I really can see is that the sidewalk texture is obviously a picture applied to the Y axis. You can see where the colors draw lines on the side of the sidewalk (the curb). I would make that have it's own texture similar to the rest of the sidewalk but with the image projected along the Z or X axis depending on which side you do. The only other thing I can see is that the walls somehow look like they are made of plastic. Not really sure how to fix that. But these are very minor errors that you would only see if you were looking for errors. Anyways, looks great, it is better than I could have done. O and the car is made by a man named Nigel. You can download it here: http://www.lwg3d.org/v3/meshes.php?cat=52

Roux 07-05-2005 02:42 AM

Thanks colto. Yep, the sidewalk texture in the first was just a y mapped image. Didn't have time to correct fo rthat image but the later image has a modelled kerb with its own texture mapping (not that you can see it in the small image)

THX for the name of the guy who made that great car model available.
