I don't like R2 from the star wars movies, but your model is looking good.
|
This has been pushed to the back, im making a model for a challenge on another thread :p
ill get back to this in a day or so ! |
lookin good so far, but there's a few error's if your a nitpicker;)
I'm building an R2 ( for real, not a 3D one ) Did you know you can get ALL the plans for R2 ( measured off the original ) for free at the R2D2 builders group in either PDF or autocad format ? actually, I did build a 3D one, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.... learned a lot since then, but haven't redone it yet... http://users.pandora.be/sma/fx/3dswmodels/r2d2.jpg ps : nice site by the way !!! especially liked the toy soldiers  |
Hi, what are the small things wrong with it admiralbcd
And thx for the comments about my site & animations :) |
I think you should just continue building the model, and than modify as you go along to ref images. Still, you are doing some good modeling there. I think some the edges need some rounding. Have fun.
By the way admiralbcd thanks for the tip, that Astromech.net is a cool site to build your own atro droid, if that's the website you mean? |
yep, astromech.net is the main site of the r2d2 builders group.
On that site you will also find the link to the yahoo group of the r2d2 builders where all the chatting is going on. there is a detailed blueprint of every tiny little bit that you will find on r2d2, measured of the original filmmodel. what's the main errors: -your foot seems to be straight on the side, but it is angled. -battery box ( the box with rounded ends, next to the foot ) has a cutout, but it should be U shaped on sideview, not same shape as the box itself. - the small tubes on the bottom of the leg seem to be on top, when actually they are cutouts, same with the horizontal line on the leg. - the large tube on the leg is heavier aka larger diameter, as are the cables connecting the foot and the battery box. but as I said, that's if you know the droid. A big star wars fan will probably see these errors, but any other won't. It's still a nice model. |
