...just happened...

I'm sad! Yesterday my screen turned blue- and that's that!! Total HD craschhh! and all is gone. No back-up of my LW works I have (stupid me). Even all McLaren - and Stratocaster download videos are gone - and I have 'nt finished it yet.. Just wanted to tell you ... :(

Man, it's a bummer when that happens. Don't bin the Hard disk just yet though. At least when you've rebuilt your machine with a new disk, try to see if you can slave up the old drive (this is assuming that it still spins up) ... at least that way, you might be able to salvage some data from it.

An alternative (but very expensive) method would be to get in touch with a local data recovery specialist to see if they can salvage anything.

Good luck!

As you've been such a good customer I'll be happy to send you these again on DVD free of charge if it helps.

I've ordered a new HD now. But no hope for the old one a specialist told me - the register was far gone. Well, I presume I can download the McLaren and the Strat once again since I only have downloaded it once before (hell of a job-but it's worth it..) And David! the new Phone DVD's you sent me works perfect (as Sidney Larkin says). Thank you!

Sure you can download again :)

David :)

That was a very nice offer you gave me yesterday, David, about the McLaren & Strat tutorials on DVD. When thinking how much job it is to redownload, it's a alluring thought to accept. But PLEASE let me pay (by points) your expences. Just let me know-mail me:attn:

No need mate just mail me your address again and I'll see you get them.

David :)

I'm overwhelmed. It's so good to have friends! My adress is: Bjorn Igeland, Lekeveien 5, 1715 YVEN, NORWAY. And one more thing: It's my birthday today and what a gift I get! Thanks!!

This might sound really stupid, but sometimes sticking your hard drive in the fridge overnight in an anti-static bag (the hard drive, not your fridge) can sometimes give them a bit more working life. It can be the case that the head stops moving and gets stuck, by freezing the hard drive you might be able to contract the metal enough to make it move again. Yeh, it sounds dumb but I've had it work for me a few times.

Best of luck!

I just want to tell that I got a new HD today, so now it is to load LW and start all over again:attn:

I know what that feels like. I've had two HD Crashes this year. New buy a Dell, I mean NEVER.

I used a great program for recovery you might want to try it. R-Studio cost $80, well worth it.

Wow that sounded stupid, maybe I should review what I write. "Never buy a Dell" that is what I meant to say. Sorry.

Bjorn,

Glad to hear that you are back in the mix.
HD failures are a sonavagone.

Sounded expensive in the past, but it sure would be an investment to buy a DVD burner and DVD blanks, now that the prices are dropping.

I actually have a network system and multiple drives with backups, but still all my treasured stuff are on DVDs or CDs.

HD failures are inevitable. I actually use Ghost to recovery failures now. As long as I use the same partition size on the boot up drive, I am back and up and running 10 mins. It happen to me two yrs ago to recover from a disaster like that.

Yes, back-up has become 1. priority now. I think I use CD/DVD to begin with. Maybe a Maxtor TouchII later (but it is a HD!). Luckyly I have "placed" some works at Simplylightwave's WIP forum so I could load it back to me.

For this precise reason, I now have 2 x 200gb external drives. I work and save on drive 1, and every 15 minutes, a sma;; program ensures drive 2 is a clone of drive 1.

Cheers!
