Kon
Though I've been lurking around and doing occassional tutorials here, I haven't really had the time or skills to work on any projects on my own... UNTIL NOW. :) This is a model of the character Kon from the Japanese show Bleach. For those unfamiliar with the character, here's a picture:
http://www.leroy3rd.com/kon.jpg This is the first thing I've attempted to model by myself (i.e. without following a tutorial). The mouth and ears gave me problems, and the mesh is pretty messed up (don't think it could EVER be animated). If you can offer any C&C I'd appriciate it. Also, I can't think of a way to add the seams to this character (he's a stuffed animal). Any suggestions? http://www.leroy3rd.com/kon-render.jpg Render http://www.leroy3rd.com/kon-layout.jpg Wireframes -LeRoy3rd |
Yay! Leroy3rd! Good to see you back :attn:
This is a nice little character you have here and I had to look quite hard to find anything to crit. From your reference image, the only real thing I could find was that the eyes aren't quite close enough together, but there may be other images you have where the eyes are further apart anyway...just might be my unfamiliarity with the character here. I've never been a texture artist, but I would think that seams would be easier as textures than modelling them in. Anyone got any better ideas on this? |
Thanks for the comments Fallenswordsman, looking back at some of my reference images, it does seem that the eyes are a bit too far apart! :) How did I miss THAT??? As for the seams... :headbang: OF COURSE!!! TEXTURES!!?!?!! For some reason I always think in terms of geometry and forget that texturing might be an easier solution.
I'm getting back to a great video tutorial series from a former editor of HDRI3D Magazine and author of many books on Lightwave... I'll probably wait to revisit this model until I complete this whole course. -LeRoy3rd P.S. Sorry it took so long for me to respond, I JUST started a new job. |
