Animation Project: Beasties Ltd.

Hey folks,

Finally decided to kick myself up the arse and get a move on with my main project for uni - figured starting a thread would force me to do some work so here it is. I'm working on the environment at the moment as my character modelling skills (what little I have) appear to have abandoned me for the moment.
This is what I've got so far - all the action will take place in the upper part of a family home. I'll explain the story etc later on when I can be arsed! C&C welcome as usual

Yep looks good.
But isn't this your already existing thread for this project?

It was until I abandoned the model as a steaming pile of out of date mince so I started a new one, is that ok with you?

I'll bare that in mind...

Small update on the environment - more or less finished the structural work, next up: ornamentation and random junk. Already loosing the will again though, might move on to characters for the moment instead.

Its looking pretty good so far - the modelling is sound although the colour scheme might be a bit too loud or powerful at the moment - tune into one of those home deco programmes if you have Sky and maybe get some ideas from there - so long as you don't start adopting the mannerisms and dress style of Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen :)

Yeah, the colour scheme and wallpaper reminds me of the Futurama episode, "Roswell That Ends Well" (The one where they go back in time to the 50's) in the scene where Fry is in bed with his grandmother. I'll maybe take some screen shots later and post them to show what I mean. But only if I can be bothered.

One more thing, shouldn't the wall sockets be on the skirting boards? I know mine are but maybe some aren't.

Fallenswordsman 01-02-2006 07:27 PM

@JohnD - wall sockets aren't necessarily on the skirts - mine aren't and at work we seem to have them fitted by a cross eyed electrician who put them pretty much anywhere he saw fit.

Yeah it was just a note, that's why I said "maybe some aren't." It was just something that stood out to me as I'm used to them being on the skirting boards (except for in kitchens where they tend to be higher up).
And that episode of Futurama? (It won an Emmy for "Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour)" so maybe not that bad a colour scheme):

Na, my sockets are above the skirting board. Just depends where you live. I for one like your colour scheme, dont let these dipshits tell you any less. I've been in houses where the wallpapering is similar so it does follow taste of many people. Your room lighting is nicely done, and modeling is excellent too. Nice and flush.

The style will go really well with your characters. Thats one thing that some people dont considder. If you make a completely realistic scene then your characters have to follow that and suit it too.

Keep it up. :)
