Very nice start Lothlorien! I like the metallic look.

I have changed direction for my robot. Here is an update. Sorry it is taking so long, I don't get to work as much as I would like. Crits and comments are welcome.

here is where I am at so far. the textures are just temporary. if anyone has any suggestions about how i could do the arms better let me know. they will have a shell over the metal.

i finally got a chance to work more on my robot. i have made a few changes. more updates to come tomorrow.

Coming together nicely - the organic looking head looks a lot better now he's got a body to go with him.

here is the final look. does anyone know how i can parent parts to one another so when i pose him in layout the parts i want to move together will. DigiMatt: thanks for the comment, but I don't know if i am Robots worthy.

NoStr0m0 24-03-2006 10:27 PM

You could put the parts in different layers, change the pivot point to where you need it to be and parent the layers, then in layout you can set IK chains with the different layers, or at least that's what I did on a mech.

You end up with a lot of layers, but it gets the job done.

Nice model :D
Cheers

Good progress on the robot lothlorien! Now for the pose ;)

(Hey nostromo care to share the tutorial on that method?)

lothlorien 25-03-2006 04:37 AM

R4s1n: thank you

NoStr0m0: i thought about putting them in different layers and then parenting, but i didn't know what to do after that. do you have a tutorial on how you did your mech? i am not very familiar with IK. i would greatly appreciate it. thank you for the feedback.

NoStr0m0 25-03-2006 06:07 AM

I don't think there's any tutorial for this... if you want I can write something so you get an idea about what to do.

And if you're curious about what the mech(s) were (just remembered I made another one, and this one's closer to a robot, still have to rig it though )...
They're not great but :attn: they're mine

And a few poses:

P.S. Sorry I posted the images, they're just so you can get an idea about the mech. If you want, I'll edit them out.

Cheers!
