dongle problem
Hi All,
I am 1st time to use dongle for software install. I just got lightwave [9], and I had installed & registed. But I want to ask that is each time I must need to use the USB donle to run the program? Can I save the license Key of the program? Thx all |
No, the dongle needs to remain in your PC for the program to operate. You can, of course install the application on multiple machines, but you'll need the dongle in place in order to use them.

really? the dongles at are college u just need to put in once before u use it and its good till u turn off the comp and u can take it out while lightwave is in use:S
ah well, maybe there different |
Depends. Generally plugins will try to validate your dongle ID everytime you access them. Lightwave also used to periodically check the dongle was inserted also, otherwise it would revert to discovery mode.
I guess that it's possible this could have changed. It's also not a good idea to remove a dongle whilst its in use anyway as it's possible it could be damaged if being accessed at the moment you unplug it. If you're using an old-style parallel dongle, then this must never be plugged in/removed whilst the PC is even switched on otherwise you'll fry it. |
cool, im gonna be scared to be around them now u sed that, i dont want the college billing me for frying there dongles haha

Personally I'm amazed a college operates like that. I work in higher education and our dongles are all wired up inside the chassis of the machine to stop them getting nicked.
