Necron Heavy Destroyer

Started this a little while ago but here how it looks so far.

Angry looking blighter isn't he? In terms of design, I was wondering about the outstretched arm being a bit too far outstretched - perhaps make it a little retractable?

Yup ... have to agree with my erstwhile colleague above. He kinda looks like the only thing he's going to be shooting is the ground around 10 feet in front of him with that blooming long arm ;)

Nice bit of design there though.

Thanks. This model is based on the Necron race from Warhammer 40k. I am using one of the gaming peices for basic reference and my imagination for the rest.
I am just starting to detail it up and using a game peice thats 1 1/2 inches long for reference that does not have much detail leave a lot of room for artistic interpolation.

Ah, a quick Google image search and now I see what you're creating here! Your rendition certainly looks accurate and I don't envy you having just a small minature figurine as reference! But as you say, it does allow for artistic license. He still is an ugly blighter though - and at least this is something different from the usual Warhammer 40k marines that people tend to model.

It is awesome! The funny thing is that he's "smiling" XD I wonder how it will look with all its bump maps and textures and dramatic lights all over :p I really want to see it finished ;)

SHOCKWAVE 18-06-2008 05:49 AM

Thanks. This is the toughest model I have attempted to do yet and having poor refs make it slow going because I am trying lots of different things to get the look I like the best.
I never do anything that I have seen done before so you will never see me do a Viper or Enterprise etc.....

Having actually painted a few of these models, I appreciate how difficult it must be draw in such detail.

How's the model coming along, it currently looks superb, my only comment would be it must be straight off the production line it's so clean, any intention of producing a battle scarred model?

I am still deeply involved in the modeling stage right now with it only about 45% done but when I get to texturing it I plan to make it battle scared.

Thanks for your response, I look forward to seeing the finished article.

I am a complete newbie to lightwave, and made a start on an warhammer Ork, I may post it on the site, but it may be a while yet.
