HDR Glass
 

Hi guys,

Long time no see. It was great to see that there are some new tutorials. I just did the HDR Glass.

I've got a problem with the rendering. I just keep getting these white blown out spots on my glass material, no matter what I trie, they're always there and they don't look good.

How do I avoid this ? Do I have to use an image filter, do I have to deal with them in post, ...

David, can you help me out ?

Hi jocco. ;) Thanks for the welcome back.

It looks like you may have incorrect settings in your GI tab. Maybe Use transparency, directional rays or Monte Carlo ? Hard to say without looking at the scene file. I'm not seeing shadows from your lights either. Also make sure you use LW 9.6+

The hot spots are just reflections from your luminous polygons. You may need to turn them down a bit.
You can load the scene in the resources file for part 1 to double check settings for GI and light placement.

yes, I forgot to enable transparency in the GI tab. :headbang:

I think this is much better. This technique saves an enormous amount of time.

It's looking better but I'm wondering if your ray recursion limit is set too low. Looks like it is missing some reflections. Also it looks like the glasses may be sitting too low or too high on the table as it isn't casting contact shadows. Hard to say though. Keep at it. :beer:
