lighting a room
suggestions on lighting rooms ? any good tips on doing that,
i have a room with 9 sides and 9 doors and a master control panel setup in the middle, with 9 upright beams that hold the walls and ceiling, and i was wondering what would be the best lighting, point light or area lights or the linear lights with falloff and how many i should use. its a project i am working on and i am having a hard time getting the lighting to look good shuold i also use negative lights also ? |
use negative lights when u need dark areas, like a corner.
think how will u put light in real life if u have that kind of a room. u can use a point light above each door, and some lights in the middle of the room. show a pic so we can see what u want. |
yep, that's one thing I'm planning to do a tutorial on too: faking radiosity for indoor scenes. Radiosity may work for stills and deliver very realistic results, but for animations it's almost useless due to the high rendertimes involved. (unless you have access to a badass renderfarm, that is)
You might want to have a look in the gallery for my Kids Room image, this one is lighted with 13 lights and renders in under 1 minute per frame... |
A ligthing tutorial is a good idea! ;)

yes thanks for the inputty
here is a pic of the room i am trying to light up there are 9 point light 1 above each door, falloff @40m and intensity is @25% and a tutorial on faking radiosity inside a room would be killer thanks again :) |
i know this is just a test render for the lighting but dont forget AA :)
theres some good lighting tutorials over at lightwave3d, try those first... also, whats your ambience set to? switch it to 5% to start off... cuse |
