vector conversion issues
I'm trying to convert a adobe illustrator vector logo into a Lightwave model, and I'm running across the problem. The holes in the logo are being covered and I can't seem to get them drill them out... here is the file I'm trying to convert http://www.indigames.com/logo.ai
keep in mind I'm completely new at this and this is my first time using lightwave... http://www.indigames.com/logo.jpg |
doesn't selecting and deleting the polys in question work for you?
|
what i need to to make a layer on the top that doesn't cover my holes...
no deleting doesn't work, this is what i get when I delete the top layer http://www.indigames.com/logo2.jpg I need it to look like this http://www.indigames.com/logo3.jpg with the holes open |
ok, LW apparently did it just the other way round...
try this: make a simple plane on a new layer, put your logo layer in background mode, and use drill (not solid drill) on Z. Then delete the faces you don't need, extrude what's left of the plane. |
great i've been trying to do this for 3 days now !!!

Hi,
I've been having the same problem with LW 7.5 here... Normally what I do..is I select the area that I don't want and cut + paste to another layer...then use BOolean to subtract that layer off. It works for me at one time...but I've been doin this new logo but LW crashes...maybe too much polygon to handle... Worth a shot though ^_^ |
when I import an eps file...which is the one only I have the option to import, what are the differences between the closed polygonal, and the other options?...
Is it possible for me to import .AI ( Illustrator files )?...Do I need any plug-ins?...I only can import eps files at the moment... |
if you're using illustrator 10 turn off compression when saving and then you can import .ai files
