Car modeling tutorials?
Hello all
I have seen some pretty good tutorials for modeling cars, but is there any others out there that maybe use a different approach to this?? I would also like opinions on the best method for modeling cars?? splines, box, etc... TIA |

well Im not sure if I am wrong in saying this so please philip when you see this post edit it as needed...
but I think that we have a car tutorial comming out in the next few day of THIS BABY: |
that's right kev! The first part is already recorded and will cover setting up backdrop images...
:D |
Cool.. will it be free? :)
|
well, the first part will be.
For the following parts: I'm afraid not, SnAp. ;) This is way too complex and time consuming to give away for free. But I guess with our pricing everyone can afford it. |
Well, I must admit. I'm pretty much looking forward to seeing this one...
I've tried modelling vehicles before and I must admit to not really having much success. (In fact my Modelling is pretty crap most of the time. My biggest successes have always been just playing about with SubPatch meshes and finding some completely random shape looks good :) ) |
man i'm sad to here you have to pay to watch the new movies. and i don't get the vip area thing. those points seem really expensive and i don't even have a credit card. do you think you will post any free movies in the near future? are you the first to do this free video tutorial thing or are there any other sites?
sincerely roshan p.s man thats too bad i won't be able to watch the car tutorial. it looks absolutely stupendous. WOW!!!. oh well i guess. |
Hey Phillip, what method will be using to model the car? Splines (like Lewis' spline tut) or some other method?
Erwin |
I will start using splinepatching to rough out the basic shape and to get the curvature going (that's somewhat time consuming but surely is the safest way).
I also think that spline patching might be a good technique to know anyway... From then on it's mostly poly by poly and extender/bandsaw. |
Hey Philip! That's nice to hear! :D
Unfortunately I wouldn't buy it  But why is Kevon posting a pic of a real mclaren? The first time I thought that's 3d.... Regards, Daniel Cya. |
I can't speak for anybody else, but if you do a tutorial that comes out looking like that...I'm buying it.
If you think these are expensive, try going to an art college. Mark |

Yes, U hot the Pic from Philip. But this ins't a 3D Rendering. I'm very sure that's just a image of the real car :D Oh and the pic is from supercars.com :p Cya. |
yes it is a picture mate. I was saying that is the car that we are going to do in the tutorial
