TOYZ! - Four_D

Great idea for a contest! Here's a quick render of my toy. I have a couple more peices to do yet and some tweaking to go.

Here's a wireframe as well.

Looks good, havn't seen one of those toys for a long time. :D

I would advise you though to subdevide (using the metaform option) the wheels a bit so you won't see the polygons.

buco 21-01-2003 08:14 PM

Or you could it 'tab' for the wheels too and in layout set the subdivision level to 1 or 2 in the wheels' object property box.
Really good stuff; I've always liked horses with long hair :p

Kvaalen 21-01-2003 08:27 PM

The model is already a subpatch so hitting tab will only do an oppisite effect (unless you freeze it first).

But what you can do (in addition to what I wrote above) is make the subpatch level heigher (in Layout) or use a subpatch weight map.

Thanks for the comments.

I haven't been able to work on it today, but every peice are on seperate layers for now, so I can easily redo any portion of it.

The Body and Mane are one mesh, but that is alright, the tires are in 2 layers, (front and back), the saddle seperate layer, and the rope on a seperate layer.

Anyways, I'm using weight maps on the body(my first time ever:rolleyes: )

What I'll end up doing is takeing the body and copying it 2 a new layer, and I'll freeze it at the desired render level, then kill all the poly's and keep the vertices across its back to rail out a better
fitting saddle.

Then, I'm goinging to redo the rail for the pull string for a lower poly count there and subd that as well.

Wheels?! I'll probably just "tab" 'em! :)

Thanks for the comments.

I like it very nice work, looks like a very cool kiddy toy.

philip 27-01-2003 12:23 AM

hmm, no update for a while... you've gone AWOL on us? ;)

Four_D 27-01-2003 03:00 PM

No sorry, still working on it, but I am also involved in another project as well which is keeping me busy.

I've also sorta got stuck and don't know what to do, I'm trying to add in an eye and the mesh just keeps getting all screwy, I may just start over!

buco 31-01-2003 07:45 PM

I'm going to miss this little horse :(

buco 31-01-2003 07:49 PM

PS (post scriptum, not photoshop :p ). I'm not sure it needs the eyes. Maybe I should see it with but I think that, as a toy, it could loose some magic it has now..

Four_D 31-01-2003 07:57 PM

Alright. Maybe I won't add the eyes then  I'll have to thank about it..

The contest is over Feb28th right? I'll get busy on it again here soon.

Meanwhile check-out one of my other projects:
