Nice job Philip!
Btw, what colour are you going for? Sunburst?
Part 16 almost downloaded!
I'm outta here :)
*Poff*

philip 08-06-2003 08:27 PM

yep, I'll be going for Sunburst, that's the most difficult to make, all the solid colors shouldn't be a problem.... maybe I'll cover more than one colors :D

oh, and I'll be providing the sunburst texture map with a quick breakdown on how I did it. How does that sound?

Ving 08-06-2003 10:57 PM

Sounds good boss! Can't wait to do the texturing.
Gotta thank you aswell Philip, you make modeling easy to understand. I've learned so much from this strat tut.
Nah, i better go to bed now... The fiancee calls... :)

Finally managed to catch up on this one at the w/e. Got my neck all modelled (and did the frets too).

Just curious Philip. How were you planning on shaping the neck going down - using taper or some other method?

philip 09-06-2003 04:12 PM

Mark: you're absolutely right: Taper!
The idea was to model the neck with a constant diameter, then clone the frets (all identical) along the neck, then taper the neck, this way you don't have to model 22 individual frets :D

I'll have the next 2 parts up in a minute.

philip 09-06-2003 04:15 PM

alright, they're up!

same location.

Mark 10-06-2003 07:46 AM

Cheers Philip. You da man, although I'll have to wait for the w/e to get these.

I'll be posting some wip when they're complete...

philip 11-06-2003 02:37 PM

alright, part 20 is up as well. It covers the modeling for the low E-String. I guess you're all fit now to model the remaining strings on your own :p

we haven't done a cover for the tremolo compartment and no backplate where the neck is attached, I'm gonna break them down in another part.

And here's some real good news: I will make the model (untextured) available for 10 points. So all of you only interested in the surfacing and rendering part can get that one (or if you want to compare the models, swap parts etc.).
You will even be entitled to use the model for everything except redistribution (resale etc.)

excellent!!!

a great service I would say

Ving 11-06-2003 03:09 PM

Really nice!

Mark 11-06-2003 04:52 PM

Phil, whaddya mean model the cover over the tremolo compartment. I thought we'd be modelling the springs that anchor the back of the tremolo into the body. :(

philip 11-06-2003 05:01 PM

ok, even better :D

I'll cover the springs and skip the cover then. better?
